That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
In June wild day lilies line the road and creek sides -- free for all to enjoy.
I'm pretty sure that this floral exuberance is one of the reasons I fell in love with the North Carolina mountains back in 1973.

smiles. i was just admiring them today, lining the road, as i drove to and from work...the client i was transporting asked so we stopped and picked a few so he could take them home to his mom, there were several million others so the 5 we took will be barely missed...most were the orange...but there were a patch of red and yellows that were truly amazing looking...i would not let him pick any of those...i want to pass them again just to smile.
A truly spirit-lifting sight.
A lovely post Vicki. The older I become the more astonished I am at
the world.. the variety and beauty.
I love, love, love day lillies. They are pretty hearty and just so beautiful.
What a cheerful start for my morning!
Who wouldn't fall in love with nature at her most benevolent.
I also love your last post. I hope calfie is doing well.
They are especially beautiful this year. All along the roadside we glimpse the lovely lilies.
and I saw them for the first time when I moved to Tennessee and I didn't know what they were! They are admirable for their beauty and for the fact that they are so resilient, putting up with all the weather conditions give them!
I love the wild lillies. We used to have them when I was growing up in West Virginia. We called them tiger lillies. Are they the same kind? I don't see them here in Illinois. The only lillies I see here are the ones we plant.
I am missing the California lilies which look a lot like these ones...without the mountains.
day lilies and coneflower remain 2 of my favorites, these natural lilies are beautiful!
Oh, beautiful! We have Humboldt lilies that grow wild up here, but their numbers can't even come close to the wonderful abundance you have in NC.
