I saw ne hop a fence at the cottage. It amazed me how easy it was for the deer. Nothing to it.

Yep -- it would take a taller fence that we can afford to build to keep them out. So we're just enjoying their beauty.

I heard them saying to each other "that woman, she stopped giving us lovely hostas, and nibbles of early sprouts..." and "what's with the covering stuff to keep us from our lunches?" There's no winning...

Sigh. Ten foot high fence around the vegetable garden, which isn't anywhere near as big as yours, and the rest of the yard is limited to plants they mostly don't eat.

We don't have space that gets enough sun, but we could definitely not keep the deer away even if we did have a garden. We have to spread deterrent around our shrubbery frequently. Even around the plants the deer are not supposed to want. I'm sure you are glad there are so many stands selling fresh produce and neighbors who share.

They are such beautiful creatures, though. And I understand that there are plants and flowers they won't touch (although I can't remember what they are — only that friends in the foothills have the same problem.)
