Wildflowers-- and a Reminder

Crested Dwarf Iris
Tomorrow is the First of May and I'll be on the lookout for rain so that I can get wet in the first rain of May, thereby ensuring good health for the rest of the year -- according to my grandmother.

Between that, and the barefoot walk in the first snow, I should have the bases covered.
Yellow Trillium
Here's hoping my California friends have a rain in May . . .

I love this tradition of getting wet on the first rain of May, I still remember when you wrote about it last year. I'll make it mine and we won't have to wait for long before the rain hits :-) it's almost everyday right now which is unusual and has been unusual since we moved here three years ago. Should we move again?? :-)

I usually try to avoid getting in the rain, perhaps I need to rethink it.

I've never heard that one. I'll have to try it and see what happens. Love the photos! I need to learn more about wild plants and flowers here. You've inspired me!

Not my grandmother, but some Celtic stories I once read, included washing one's face with dew at dawn on May Day, Beltaine. Don't think I'll make it before the dew dries, but you never know.

Thanks for your wish of rain for us Californians. We had some a week ago but just a little bit.

I looked at the weather forecast – sun for the upcoming week, no rain for a while – maybe I should just stand under the garden hose?
My tradition, French that is, is that you need to get, find, be offered .. whatever - at least one sprig of muguet – called here lily of the valley. You can even send a postcard to someone with lily of the valley on it. I don’t know about health, but it is supposed to give you love and happiness for the whole year.
