What's That in the Thrift (Aka Creeping Phlox)?

A hummingbird moth -- AKA Sphinx Moth or Hawk Moth or Bumblebee Moth

I thought at first that it was a bee, with those right yellow stripes . . .

It flies and hovers like a hummingbird . . .

Isn't Nature amazing?!

Maya the moth!
Few moths are visible in daytime, this one is really good looking.

Great catch...had that camera handy that time, eh? I'm also among those who have never seen one of these. And thanks for continuing to reinforce my learning "Thrift".

I've never seen one before but they are really interesting. I'm happy that we seem to have more butterflies this year.

Wow, that's a beauty. I've not seen that moth around here. I hope he stops by some time!

Is it a bird, is it a plane ...no, it's supermoth! That looks huge and very fascinating.

Vicki, from the earlier comments, I know that I will not be alone in telling you that ... I've never seen such a beautiful creature...in or out of phlox. In NYC.

You continue to feed my yearning for having more access to nature.

Thank you. xo
