We were wondering about you, Vicki. It was raining and getting much colder as we drove through Hendersonville and Asheville Sunday evening, and we knew snow was forecast. Let's hope for some real Indian Summer now. Jim
I love photos of snow (it's so rare here in Louisiana), but the fourth and sixth ones in this post are as pretty as any I've ever seen. The golden leaves and green patches of moss sparkle like jewels against the white. Beautiful!
You got more snow than we did here at our house, Vicki. It's so darned windy that it didn't stick to the trees. We got about 1/2 an inch. Your pix are lovely.
Glad to see the white enhancing your environment...and I didn't know about going barefoot. Ours didn't stick, but has been falling off and on since 3 yesterday. It's white on cars and roof tops here in Black Mountain.
Beautiful photos that look like Christmas. We were supposed to get a tad bit of snow but instead just got wind all night -- but power stayed on for which I am glad. -- barbara
That must be a tad early, even for your area. Lets hope, once Sandy disappears, your weather reverts to some balmy autumn days. Though I guess you'll have lost the leaves and colour. I've been thinking of you and all my other East US friends.
Here in Cosby most of the snow has melted. We are at about 1800 feet in elevation. At Mt. LeConte Lodge, elevation over 6,000 feet, they have almost 3 FEET of snow and it is still snowing. Check out their High on LeConte blog for photos. I can hardly wait for a view of the mountains. They have been socked in for 4 days now. Thanks for sharing your photos. Mary Anne in Cosby TN
I'm so glad it's not bad where you are, Vicki. I have a dear friend who lives in Letcher County, KY, and they've been without power for almost 9 hours. And I was wondering if you'd take your barefoot walk in the first snow! I should have known you would...
It's snowed, sleeted, rained much of the day. Willa and I have stayed cozy by the fire. It should be getting a bit warmer and drier tomorrow. We've had it very easy compared to the folks to the north, especially New Jersey and New York.

Wow. We're not getting it (yet). And I hope we don't. Although your photos make it look so, so pretty.
When it gets too cold to wear flip-flops and deck shoes, it's time to go south.

Beautiful snow shots! It was 38 with a hard cold wind blowing at 5am this morning here in sunny FL!
Amazing, all this snow,
and there we were, in summery temperatures, only days ago!
Stay safe,
Merisi
No snow here, but we got your share of the wind. No leaves left now. Love your idea of walking barefoot in the first snow.

It does make for some beautiful photos.
That is just not right! Snow in October. Mercy. (or as my Grandma said 'I swan...'.)
It is pretty, maybe for December...
Take care,
Tammy
What lovely, if early, snow scenes, Vicki!
It seems as if we have both recently seen some climate change evidence.
I had not heard that bare feet in the first snow theory before. xo

cute footprints
I just knew you would be having snow.....how glorious and magical
.....stay warm
Been thinking about you and yours, Vicki. Let's hope Sandy runs out of puff, sooner rather than later.
Such lovely photos Vicki - and this year I am going to do that barefoot thing. Glad you are safe and warm, hard to look at New York photos,
Katy

I can't hardly imagine snow in the midst of a hurricane- how strange!

Does it count as the first snowfall of the season if it's still autumn and not even winter yet? :-)
I'm been away from the blogs, Vicki. But when I saw on the news where you guys got snow, I had to check it out. So pretty, but.... I can wait!!!!!
