California ~ A Few Glimpses

So, I'm back and with so many pictures that it's going to take a while to organize them into manageable posts.

Claui and I got home at 3AM yesterday morning and I found that Willa had had an early evening encounter with Something on the mountain and had a long gash on one shoulder and several puncture wounds -- nothing life threatening but I did spend part of the day (after I'd had some sleep) at the vet having the gash stitched up. She's fine and looking pretty cute in a onesie (to keep her from chewing on the stitches or pulling out the drain .)

Unpacking, laundry, and dealing with the mail are done. But it's almost 9 PM now and I'm fading fast. I'll schedule this to post at midnight and, if nothing don't happen, (that's Appalachian for Deo volente -- which is Latin for God willing,) why, then we'll be back on the daily posts.

Lots of California flora...

and fauna ...

and more flora . .  . (I hope you weren't expecting film stars. . .)

Redwoods (and eucalyptus) . . .

And whatever else caught my eye . . .

There will be more sea lions... and a tortoise in days to come...

Oooooh, sorry about Willa, glad she's okay. I can't wait to see what else you've got to show us! Since your photos don't enlarge, what is that on the rocks in the first photo? (I can't tell on my laptop)

Welcome home, thanks for the glimpse of your trip. Hope Willa mends quickly and entangles with the local fauna no more.

Glad to hear that you're back safe and sound. Poor Willa. Any guesses as to what might have been responsible for the injuries?

Welcome home. You certainly saw some beautiful things in California. It must have felt like another world compared to autumn in the mountains.

Poor Willa. I'm so glad she will be okay. We have mountain lions here and bears galore. Hope she didn't tangle with them. If she'd been smart, she would have stayed home and played around on Facebook :)

Oh, this is going to be great! Disney World but better because it's real and it's natural!

Welcome home! Beautiful pictures, as always, and I'm looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

Poor Willa! I hope she heals well and doesn't worry her stitches.

"Good Lord willin', and the creeks don't rise" is what my grandmother used to say. Deo volente or possibly inshallah, should a bit more erudite.

Ms. A -- Some kind of birds is all I can tell. Try right-clicking twice -- that brings up all the pictures then you click on the pic to enlarge.

Martin -- possibly a coyote or another dog but we don't know. Willa is grounded for the next few weeks anyway.

Poor Willa! I'm sorry to hear she's had a fight or been attacked. Hope she mends soon :)
Your pics are lovely. Gorgeous shots of the flora, fauna and animals.

Glad Willa is ok. The redwoods are on my bucket list...sigh...one day.

Mrs. A, they're cormorants, common from the coast to the interior mountain lakes.

Beautiful photos, Vicki! I'm so sorry about Willa, sending her quick mending wishes...

Glad you are back safe and sound. Hope Willa heals quickly. Bet the onesie feels pretty good on these chilly mornings.
