Porch Flowers

Self-sown morning glories...
... back every year. A bit of a weed but oh! how welcome...
Such elegance of form and color!
Angel-wing begonia -- descendant of one of my grandmother's plants ...
Its heavy truss of blooms is almost hidden by those spotted leaves.

How pretty they are, such bright touches of color for your porch! Let you know when the book gets here. The snake turned out to be a juvenile brown water snake.

The wonder of the detail, if only we'd take more time to look. Nice shots, Vicki.

Beautiful flowers, especially the close-ups. Just also read your Greek yogurt post. I have store-bought, fat-free Greek yogurt for breakfast almost every morning. Yours looked amazing!

Such a treat to see your pictures. I love the purple flowers. I have a white morning glory (Jimson weed?) that shares space with a struggling rose. At least I see blossoms.
Your begonia is lovely. This summer's heat has been hard on our flowers, even though they're mostly in the shade. Keeping them watered is a challenge.

Oh, your post has got me laughing this morning. There is something SO WRONG about your lovely morning glories blooming up a storm even though you didn't even plant them, while I meticulously planted three different varieties this year and do everything short of reading them bedtime stories at night, and not a single bloom. Their foliage is pretty impressive though. I may just have to do a post about that this weekend...

Great photos. Interesting that you are growing a plant that came from your grandmother. What a terrific idea -- generational pass-downs. -- barbara

How I wish some of the things my Grandmother had planted and cared for, hadn't been destroyed by people who couldn't care less. Same for her home and property.

Love the colours of the morning glory. They look wonderful twining around your porch.

I love that you have a plant from your grandmother's seeds. When my daughter was born, I was given a green plant-mostly philodendron. I have split and repotted it for all these years. Today I have five planters with this plant's offspring. My daughter just bought her first home. When we go for our first visit, I will take her one.

Morning glories are so pretty when potted and wanted. They seem to grow where I don't want them, no matter how I try to discourage them. Yours are beautiful.
