Oh, Vicki.....Finally I have your books in my hot little hands!! Found them in a bookstore this week and bought all five that were on the shelf: Old Wounds, In A Dark Season, The Day of Small Things, Art's Blood, and Signs In The Blood.
Hey, Rick -- They are in this sequence: SIGNS IN THE BLOOD, ART'S BLOOD, OLD WOUNDS, IN A DARK SEASON, THE DAY OF SMALL THINGS. Many thanks for your interest and I hope you enjoy them!
Miss Susie H and Eddie have been leaving bits of their fur all over the house.
Ahhh, these sweet kitty pics are the best! Yes, fur is tough for the critters, as well as for us who have all of their leavings floating about! Thanks for sharing your art, Vicki.
Yes you have to feel sorry for those hot, black cats in the summertime. I have one too and she was hot today, but it is not nearly AS hot here as where you are! For that I am thankful just now, although I envy you the true blue skies. Our blue skies come with clouds!! Love your little cat.

I'm the author of The Elizabeth Goodweather Appalachian Mysteries from Bantam Dell. The series includes SIGNS IN THE BLOOD (LA MONTAGNE DES SECRETS in France), ART'S BLOOD, (LE SECRET DES APPALACHES in France,) OLD WOUNDS,IN A DARK SEASON (Anthony Nominee, Best PBO), and UNDER THE SKIN. There's also THE DAY OF SMALL THINGS (a spinoff/standalone)chronicling the unexpected life story of Miss Birdie, one of Elizabeth's neighbors.
I came to this weird business late (my first novel was published in 2005) and am still trying to figure it out.
As my novels are set in a place much like my real life home, I thought I'd use this blog to share pictures of our farm and county. I've been blogging for over four years now, on an almost daily basis, and the topics have ranged from writing, chickens, food, books, quilts, flora and fauna of all sorts, to the occasional tiny rant. There's no plan, but there are lots of pictures.
There's more information about me and my books on my web site: http://vickilanemysteries.com/

Miss Susie Hutchins is sooo cute. I love her comments to you, Vicki, very funny. I know I'd hate to be stuck in a fur suit in hot weather!
Purrfect!

Where to start??
Rick
It is no good encouraging the poor things to get rid of their wool suits, they will need them again before the year is out.
Woke up this morning to the same pose from Baby Cat. Trying my best to keep all the critters in during this weather-getting a little fuzzy in the den!
Gotta love Miss Susie Hutchins! SHe's captured the whole statement about this HOT Hot Hot weather.
Could I steal one of her photos for my desktop background?

Help yourself, Kath! Miss Susie will be honored.
She has cat napping down to an art! I imagine the heat is rough on all our furry friends!

haha...yeah, but i wish i could twist and turn into the same positions as my cat...lol
Oh dear, that made me laugh. It's so very cattish!
Go for it, Miss Susie. Whatever works is just fine.
Where is the zip?
... to peel the fur off my back... I mean.
Poor kitty.
I can't stand the stray hairs that MiMau leaves clinging to my sweat-moistened forearms. I'd rip my skin off if it were COVERED in fur.

Love your little cat.
How adorable! And I don't blame her.
Not sure how anything is surviving in this dreadful heat... especially covered in fur.
Cats seem to tolerate the heat better than dogs or humans. -- barbara
Miss Susie H is gorgeous and clearly feels her gay abandon pose is the ideal way to get cool. She probably can't understand why you don't copy her ;)
How cool is THAT?!
Elora
*lol*
What a charmer! :-)
Susie Hutchins is a gorgeous girl...I think she knows it!
