Beautiful pictures ... I never tire of looking at the mountains and the changing moods surrounding them. My younger son lives in your area and whenever he's out and about takes pictures like yours and sends them to me ... I love it!
It wasn't much of a post but between speaking at the library and meeting my class last night, I was kinda rushed. But what a great place to be rushed in!
Just a hint of color, Tammy. Passing through Mars Hill I did see some young maple trees blazing in front of one of the college buildings.
Yes, Alan -- we are in the Appalachian Mountains, a part of the long chain that runs from Maine to Georgia. This particular section in the photos is also known as the Blue Ridge -- the same mountains we see in the far distance from our porch. Our farm is in the Smoky Mountains -- also part of the larger Appalachian chain.
When I travel away, it's always a heart-lifting moment on returning when I see the first foothills.
I scrolled down your blog just now and want to congratulate you on the birth of the little bull. He's gorgeous. And so is your cow. I love cows. They have the softest eyes :-)

What a beautiful place to live and be out and about in; wonderful mountain and sky shots.

Beautiful big skies, full of promise and hope.

I know, Vicki! Sometimes I feel like a dog in a butcher shop gobbling up all the scenic rewards of living here in the Appalachians! Daily.

Stunning landscape, Vicki. Nicely captured.
I agree that you have one of the best views ever Vicki! :)
It is just amazing the views we get here in the mountains. And from the highway no less!
What more could one want in life.

great shots...love to look at the sky...and cool to see a patch of sky perhaps a bit different thatn your own...
Lovely pictures! Looks like there is just a tinge of color starting on the hills.

Beautiful photographs - I assume they are the Appalachian mountains.
Wonderful to see what other people see every day. It makes you go back and look at your own beautiful views in a whole different way.
I love the views from your porch too, but WOW those are gorgeous mountains!
I especially love that top photo. The gradations in tone and colour are wonderful. But it is hard to beat the views from your porch, it's true.
Indeed the mountains are so beautiful. And never more so than when you are headed home to them.

Those skies are beautiful. To have that as a view from the parking lot of your supermarket (thé place to meet cute pensioners ;-))....
Wow!

Beautiful mountain snaps, love it!
