AT LONG LAST!!!

Huzzah!!! It's out!  Birdie's book hits the shelves today!

Like any anxious mother, I hope the world will be kind to my latest creation
I have pansies to plant . . .and the corrected and revised manuscript of Under the Skin to return to my editor.
I won't see it again till it's in page proofs and I'll read through one more time, hopng to catch every last typo.
It's one of the many oddities of publishing that now, as I begin visiting book stores and libraries to talk about The Day of Small Things, it's Under the Skin that is fresh in my mind.

My heartfelt thanks to those of you who've suffered with me through the borning of Birdie's book. You have kept my spirits up when thing were difficult and you've been kind enough to follow me as I go roving to post on other blogs.
A thousand thanks -- you all are great!

Congratulations! I have enjoyed every peep into the birth of your books that you have so kindly shared with us. It does seem strange that one book is just out and your mind is full of the next one. I am sure The Day of Small Things will be a great success, I wish you much joy.

Congratulations! You bring joy to many, many lives including mine, so if we can bring you even a small bit in return that is quite gratifying to hear.

Congratulations Vicki. I wish you much success with both books. I'm not so sure I could handle wrestling with two books in my head at the same time. Maybe it's just a blonde thing.

I really enjoyed your visit to Meanderings & Muses yesterday. The photographs of the various women were amazing. There's nothing like a photograph to put a face on someone.

Thanks so much, you all!

Alan, I'm reasonably sure the books are available through UK Amazon.

Whew -- all this excitement. I think I'll go do the ironing that's waiting for me -- a perfect chore for a cool rainy morning.

Yes! Today is the long awaited day! I hope the book sells fantastically for you--especially since we want many more books to come. :-) (p.s. I feel silly asking this, but did I win a copy of this book (signed by my favorite author) a long time ago, when you thought it was coming out much sooner? If not I'm ordering me one pronto!)

congratulations - and celebrations! what a lovely cover. i just refused to sign my latest contract today, payment only one year after the release might be okay for first-time-authors but not anymore for me ;-))

Your books are definitely available through Amazon UK, Vicki -- Day of Small Things is £5.11, and they were down to one copy when I looked that up. You have fans on both sides of the Big Big Puddle! :)

I wish to add my congratulations. What an achievement. I am so happy that I won the book several months ago. I relish the time that I will spend with your book Vicki as your style is so engaging. Your characters are always appealing and the stories are the type I cannot put down.

It's in the mail, Tammy!

Well, Fay, tonight was my writing class from 6 to 8:30. Drat -- no time for celebration. But I am having a little glass of wine, now that I'm back home.

Thanks, Deanna!

No, Eliane, that doesn't seem right. I know that publishers everywhere are tightening their belts but still...

Big thanks, Subby and Mel and Louise and Jessica and Star!

Hope it lives up to expectations, NCMountainwoman!

There are lots of similarities, Miss Yves -- but with a book the labor lasts about a year -- for me, at least.

Thanks for the info, Markin!

Stopped by Accent on Books and signed stock before my class today, BB!

Many thanks, Jennyfreckles, Willow, and Vagabonde!

You know -- it's such fun sharing this excitement with my blog friends -- really makes it a celebration for me. Thanks and love to all of you!

I see the manuscript on your table and can tell its been read and worn by the time you get it back. Do you reprint every page before returning it? And is rubber bands the way to go? It cheers me to realize that you seem to have a relaxed type of relationship with your agent. One like I, too, hope to eventually find some day.

Finally got my copy from B&N! Reads good so far ( up to chapter 7 )and I like how th' story is unfolding...

...won't say more, as I don't wanna spill...!

Hugs :)

Dana -- yes to the rubber bands -- no to the reprinting. I just make my marks in a different color pencil than my editor's black and the copy editor's green.

Thanks you, Kat!

And thank you, Subby! I hope you'll continue to enjoy it!
