Here's to the beautiful Mother of us all.
With thanks for all she's given us . . . with apologies for what thoughtless children we've often been . . . and with hopes that we can mend our ways . . . clean up our messes . . . not fight with our brothers and sisters and cousins . . . play fair . . . share . . . all those things mothers ask of their children.

A lovely tribute! And... Happy Mother's Day to you. XO
Beautifully said and superbly presented. The picture layout is gorgeous.
If Mother Earth never gave me anything more than fresh asparagus straight out of the ground, I would feel as grateful.
I like the roundness in this post's images.
What a thoughtful post. It makes me realise that all the schemes whereby city kids are taken out into the country (I saw one where they live on a farm for a week)must be worthwhile. It's hard to appreciate Mother Nature unless you really experience raw nature.
That´s absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing!
You're right, Vicki. Was there ever a more giving and forgiving mother?
mmm...nice one...yes happy mothers day mother earth...and to you as well...
So true, jennyfreckles! I have a friend who's deeply involved with a program called Muddy Sneakers -- getting school kids out into Nature to see and experience first hand.
Every generation seems to get farther and farther away from knowing where their food and water comes from and where their waste goes -- not a good thing.
Hear, hear to that Vicki. Have a lovely day today.
Blessings, Star
Beautifully put Vicki. Happy Mothers Day.

So beautiful!! So true!!
Amen. and all the children of the earth, say amen.
Vicki -- Wonderful tribute to the great Mother -- the great nourisher of our physical and mental well being. You said it all -- a FINE post!!
Happy Mother's Day!
(I'm glad Mothers have come a long way since the pics in the previous post)
gosh Vicki, that is lovely. You do live in a gorgeous area and it's MUCH warmer than up here!
Happy Mother's Day to you.
Yes! "I'm sorry Mom for all the crap I put you through as an ungrateful teenager!!"
Happy Mothers Day to you!
happy mother's day to you.
A lovely post, very thoughtful and unusual. It's always about me and me and us, so refreshing to see that it can also be about the beginning of all things.
The creation of the great earth is more than anything we can ever comprehend, but we must appreciate it.
I never thought of Mother's Day like this. Thanks for reminding us, Vicki...
Hope your day was a pleasant one!
Rick
Vicki, I hope your Mother's Day was a happy one.
Beautiful post about the Mother of us all.
Mother Earth, how fitting!
I love your choice of pictures, all in blues in greens.
The asparagus spears freshly picked, what delight!
I am so lucky that the region around Vienna is famous for its asparagus, the white one especially - I never knew how good that could taste, until I moved here (from Rome and DC I only knew fresh green one).
I roasted a pound of green spears to go with my chicken for lunch. How do you prepare yours?
Great post, with different meanings and beautiful pictures!
In France, this year, mother's day will be celabrated on may 30 th .

Many thanks, all of you! -- I missed talking about Earth Day so this seemed appropriate.
Merisi - I roast my asparagus with a little olive oil and salt or steam it lightly and then serve it with butter.
