House Guests Bearing Gifts

Isn't this a wonderful crow? Our cousin Barb bought us this beautiful piece she made -- a woodcut, inspired by the picture below that I posted sometime back in the winter.
Barb carved a wood block then painted it with acrylics and printed and reprinted the image on canvas. Bits salvaged from old furniture provide a unique presentation.
We're enjoying our house guests -- an enjoyable and relaxing time to catch up on news of Tampa as well as other family -- as well as an excuse to eat and drink very well.

And yes, they brought their dog -- the charming Blackbird.

Ali Ali is in love.

Your cousin, Barb has produced something very special. I love this woodcut. If this makes any sense, it's filled with the 'outdoors'.

I am glad you did a close up -- I am a big fan of close up photography -- it is all in the details - tell her very nice work -- and a very nice gift you received.

The dogs all look so happy together -- the Black Dog the black crow in the snow - and the black bird wood cut -- sorry the way my mind works but the song keeps swirling around here by the Beatles a little chorus for your blog ---"Black bird singing in the dead of night Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise ..

It is so great to surround yourself with talented friends. Beautiful blackbird.

The blackbird is very good, and I love the different textures to it. I also love seeing pictures of your 'gatherings' as everyone always seem to be intently 'conversing'(a somewhat lost art at times) and the dogs everywhere, always! Love it. :-)

What a wonderful special gift – Barb is very talented. I also liked the picture of the men conversing and the child talking to the dog – it looks like a great relaxing time. Life is good.

What's especially neat is that Barb can reuse her woodcut again and again. She's planning on a piece with two images -- one black crow on white and the other A white crow on black.

Good point, Joanny -- the black birds and the black dogs -- one of which is named Blackbird -- do all go together.

A front porch is a terrific place for conversing! So nice finally to have the weather for it!

I really admire that picture of the crow. I remember the picture from when you posted it before.
Your picture on the porch looks so relaxed. A good time had by all, no doubt.
