Transmogrifications

A slow exposure and a shaky hand have turned my amateurish painting into something kind of unearthly and far better than anything I could have done if I'd been trying. I see it and think 'book cover!'

It began with the deer skull one of Ethan's dogs found on the mountain.  I used it as a subject for a painting which, of course, didn't turn out nearly as well as I'd hoped. Amateurish, as I said.

But I love what the camera's done with it!

It's the same principle that make me fonder and fonder of old foggy mirrors as I age -- happy to be seeing through a glass darkly.

Vicki, I think you under-rate yourself; I like your painting. But, I have to tell you, the photo scares the bejeebies out of me!

I agree with Victoria. You're selling yourself short on the painting front. The fact is, both painting and photograph work really well. Certainly keep that shot for a possible book-cover.

I absolutely love your painting ... looks like something you would find in Santa Fe. Now the photo is something else ... I'm with Victoria, it scares the 'bejeebies out of me"!

Though the painting is beautiful, it is too bright to be spooky, but the photos are, as you said, "unearthy"! Thanks for sharing!

I'm completely fascinated by some of the pictures 'mistakes' with the camera can produce. Of course, were I to try to reproduce the effect, I doubt I'd have any luck.

It's very mysterious and quite perfect for a book cover. Don't put down your painting either. I liked it.

Yes , "mistakes" or hazar may be creative in art!
Your photos reveal your art in progress, I agree with Reader Will.

Vicki - I agree with everyone here - you are, indeed, selling yourself short!! And as far as the photography goes - Wow. Just wow.

Here's one more person in agreement with what everyone's said. You are selling yourself short in the art department. That would make a fabulous book cover if I could pronounce Transmogifications.

Thanks for all the kind words -- perhaps some day I'll get a chance to mess about with paint again.
