Miscellany

Just some things that caught my eye:

the diminishing grid of snow on the cabin roof . . .

...a  shadow tree ...

... a purple finch ...

... and the layered pastels of an evening sky . . .
with a tiny moon,  peeking through the tree branches.

Beautiful photos! (I hope this posts...Blogger has been acting strange for days now).

Oh my gosh! There it is!

Have you had any more sightings of little Spotsford?

Vicki

That's a great 'shadow tree', but my favourite photograph is the last in the sequence. Looks as though the moon has settled among those beautiful branches.

Delicate colours ...
I love the shadow tree and the bird (even if it is not on a wire !)

I love that little cabin. I would love that as 'my place' to go and read and relax. The shadow tree has to be my favorite though .. that is really neat!

Vicki, what a lovely little cabin. It would make a perfect get-away in the summer.

I love your photographs. I think your farm is beautiful. North Carolina must be one of the most beautiful states.

What a sweet cabin! Is it on your farm? :)

Hey, Victoria -- so glad Blogger decided to cooperate! Mo, I haven't seen Spotsford again. Possums are mostly nocturnal so that was unusual.

Thanks, Martin!

Miss Yves -- I was shooting through a not-so-clean window and the quality is poor but the bird's color was so pretty I couldn't delete the photo.

And all you cabin lovers -- Yes, it's on our farm; I see it from my kitchen window. John took a class in log building and this cabin was the practice piece for the class. It's rather tiny -- maybe eight feet by six feet. The boys used it as a play house when they were young and we've used it for garden and tool storage ever since.

Such delightful images!

I love the grid pattern on the roof,
the hut itself is worthy of a picture,
but with mother nature's design it becomes a true Hingucker!

Vicki Lane said...

Hi, Merisis -- You sent me to Mr. Google to find out that a hingucker is an eye-catcher or a head-turner. You are the photographer supreme of hinguckers!

I've also been following you sugggestion to explore Badger's Vienna for Dummies and Wanderlust. (My very favorite is I HAVE A SIGN)More excellent blogs!

Love the photos. I've been trying to download my snow photos, as well as a snowy dawn photo that reminds me of yours but my camera is giving me trouble.
Just could not get a photo of the cardinal chowing down on pokeweed berries outside our window, while we were without power and enjoying the bird-show outside!

Lovely wintry pictures Vicki. I had to click on the one with the tiny moon, to see it properly, but there it was.... beautiful.
What do you use the cabin for?
Blessings, Star

Your photos are like a poem! Lovely words and great pictures.
Have a great and happy weekend,Vicki!

Kay -- I've got to clean my windows so my bird picture will come out clearer! Hope your camera cooperates!

Garden storage, Star. Tools and netting and fertilizer and such.

Your pictures are very nice. I did not know you could take such pictures through a window – do you have a screen? I like the picture of the tree and the sky is so soft.

Vicki Lane said...

Only the bird picture is through the window. I take the screens down in the winter and I don't have the flash turned on.

This is about your Haiti/non-orphans/post. I'm always behind in reading your blog, but just have to point out the curative power of this one.........my blood pressure went up each time this group was in the news...your take on it was just what I needed to return to health! Thank you again, Vicki for your insight and way with words..........why you're the author, and I'm not!!!

Thanks, Tipper!

Hey, Susan T. -- yeah, I was getting more and more annoyed which was why I did the post. Some lively comments on that post are continuing to come in today as well. It really is a fascinating story, qua story, as more background come out about the woman who "organized" the whole debacle.
