More Postcards . . .Sunrise in the Folk School Garden

I'll be leaving John C. Campbell in the morning and heading south to the hinterlands of Alabama to visit my brother for a few days. Normal service (and a lot more about my stay at John C. Campbell) will resume sometime next week.

Meanwhile, enjoy an early morning walk through the garden of my dreams . . .

Postcard from John C. Campbell

I'm popping in to share a few of the pictures I've been taking this week at John C. Campbell.  I'll do a post later with photos of some of the studios and the work that's going on.

Having a wonderful time; wish you were here....

And I'm Off . . .

Heading south today for a week at John C. Campbell Folk School followed by a very quick visit to my brother in Alabama.

I'm always of two minds about leaving home. One one hand, it's pleasant to have a change now and then but, on the other, think of all the stuff I'll miss -- like this handsome black snake that visited our greenhouse and left his shed skin behind.

And the clematis are just getting going good and the hollyhocks I started from seed last year are beginning to bloom . . .

and there are Great Spangled Fritillaries on the dog poo . . .

Ah well . . . While I'm away my internet access will be sketchy so if I don't post, that's why. I should be back on line by the 15th -- see you then!

Déjeuner sur l'Herbe (Free Range Chickens)

Justin and Claui's laying flock are really enjoying themselves. Look at that little banty wading in the water.

The area beneath the willow tree is like a chicken playground.

They'll go back to their chicken house at dusk, to be closed up safe from predators -- reasonably safe at least.

The banty, believe it or not, is the mother of a couple of these hens -- but I don't think they remember. (They never write; they never call . . .)

I don't remember ever seeing chickens playing in the water like this.

Lucky biddies!
