First Day of Fourth Grade
Her hair is (uncharacteristically) pulled back, the better to display the earrings in her newly pierced ears. The shoes and the jacket make quite a big girl fashion statement.

They start early in anticipation of snow days (back in'78 schools were closed for all of January) and close early when there haven't been many snow days. Our county has only one high school and if one section of the county has snow,y roads, then all the schools shut down. We aren't prepared to deal with snow the way you all are.

Have a good year Claui.

What a charming outfit, and I'm sure that fourth grade will be a great year for Josie!
Wishing Josie a terrific school year! 💖
Schools in Northern Virginia open next Monday, August 24, and close June 16. A rare snow day will extend the year.
