Rainmaker

Yesterday was really hot and I had, in the early morning, prepped a shrimp salad (shrimp, onion, celery, hard-boiled eggs, red bell pepper, held together with homemade mayo and homemade ranch dressing.) All that was missing was a big tomato and some chips.

At the grocery, I was delighted to find beautiful local heirloom tomatoes. Also potato chips. But when I got home, the chips had gone missing. Thus the little cheese crackers on the side. Not the same but not bad.

But the really weird (even weirder than the missing chips) thing is--and it's happened many, many times before--is that something about my making shrimp salad for a hot-day meal almost always brings on the rain. And we enjoy our hot-day meal in blessed cool.

With a bonus rainbow!
