Heat Wave . .

When I got dressed yesterday morning, I found myself picking up my earrings then putting them back, thinking, Nah, it's too hot for earrings today.

And it was -- though nothing near as bad as folks in other parts of the country are enduring.

We don't have air conditioning but make full use of fans in every room. We keep the south and east facing windows shut till the afternoon, and anything outside gets done early.  As does most cooking.

We had a nice rain around supper time that cooled things off -- always a blessing.  But the weekend is supposed to be even hotter. Dangerously hot in places.

A good time to stay inside, stay hydrated, check on pets and neighbors, and think, perhaps, about the snows of yesteryear.

It will be 88F and feel like 109 here today. You snow pics look appealing.

This "night owl" has been forced to become a "morning person" in order to have a bit of time outside early in the morning. And our mountain breezes seem to have abandoned us for a while. And this is July. Heaven help us when August comes.

How lovely to think of dipping my face into a handful of snow! I'm off to shut the windows, though it's still pretty comfortable sitting here listening to cicadas as their noise sweeps in waves along the tree slopes.

I've been feeling it's hot here, intermittently - though I'm still wearing earrings! I guess most people would only think it's a bit warm. I like to live within a range of only about 10 degrees, not cold, not hot. I don't think I could handle the heat you get.

Well, I feel guilty. Our Temps have been moderate all spring and summer with temps between the '70s and low 80s. BUT come this week we are going to see some 90s. I have an idea for tiny little solar power earring fans that cool your earlobes and neck. Well maybe not.
