Manchu Picchu by Lynn Parsons |
Progress is happening -- on the 7th, the wound on my right leg was pronounced healed -- an open crater the size of my palm, seeming miraculously healed over with no intervention beyond a pressure bandage. No more weekly visits to the wound care center.
My physical therapy has become intense -- lots of walking with the walker -- promenades down the hall three or four times day --and continued shoulder exercises with the addition of weights.
And best of all . . .
I am scheduled to go HOME next Wednesday, the 14th!!!
(If as Miss Birdie says, nothing don't happen.)

Wonderful!!!
Way to go! Keep working hard Vicki! 👍👍
Oh it will be so GOOD to be back in your own home with your own people and animals and things!! Good Lord willing and the creeks don't rise! (What my grandmother used to say)
YAY and fireworks for Vicki...well, no fire actually these days, but blossoms of stars bursting for joy! What wonderful news. To consider regaining your independence is just so pleasing. Your healing story has been so poignant to read here through the weeks. Thanks for continuing to blog. There are so many blogs that just hang there in the ether as their owners are...what? Nobody knows unless they come back to say so.
With more than a week to spare before Christmas too. Great present for you and yours.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. You WILL get home!
I've been praying you would be home before Christmas!!
That's a real Christmas gift! So happy for you!
That's great news, Vicki. Now, don't over do when you get home. Let other people carry the load for a while.
Fantastic news! You must be over the moon! :) I can imagine you are probably tenacious… ;) I myself am now full weight-bearing and my walking, though slow, almost appears normal, plus, I will get to go up (and down - we have a tri-level and I've been living in the middle) the stairs this weekend. It feels almost miraculous, doesn't it?! To get real movement going again? Congratulations, Vicki!
Wow Vicki. So happy for you! Home is going to feel surreal
Wayfaring Stranger, it is my intention to lie on the sofa, reading bonbons and eating trashy French novels . . . ;-) (with thanks to SJ Perelman for the idea)
What a fabulous report, dear Vicki!
The workings of our human bodies are rather amazing to behold. Most days we are able to ignore all those workings, but wow...how grand to discover how the repairs take place.
Walking...i have just returned from a short trip to the UK and discovered that I was walking about 9 miles every day in my explorations of places I love, and reunions with people who are very special to me. xo
Love to you Vicki, home will be great! Five days!
Vicki--that is the most fantastic news ALL year; I am so very happy for both your recovery and release to your beloved home. Have a wonderful holiday and get back to your real life...
Oh, frabjus day, calloo, callay!
Deana the Queena
Wonderful news. Steppin out and steppin back in your home. Great!!
Such wonderful news! I tend to read this blog in fits and starts, and a few weeks ago when I found out you were in a rehab center, or whatever you call it, I had to go back and read all of your entries up to the point of the accident. I was horrified, but I am so happy you are healing well. You are one strong cookie! I'm hoping you continue to progress well at home. I know you will be enormously happy just to be home, though probably a little frustrated that you can't do what you're used to doing - yet.
