Looking on the bright side, I've been allowed to leave off the sling and can use both hands to type. I've gotten a bit more mobility in lifting my legs. And Justin brought me sushi, dark chocolate and olives . . .
The dark side -- I'm in a nursing home/rehab facility. With a roommate who seems like a nice person but is far more inclined to chat than is my comfort level. I've explained to her that I don't hear well (which is true)and hope that will excuse me from too many girlish confidences.
Worst of all, the wi-fi is spotty. I'm unable to download email. THIS is seriously annoying.
But all in all, I feel like I'm improving bit by bit. Maybe they can work on my grumpiness while they're healing my body.

You must be fit to be tied!
Not that you can do anything immediately, but hearing aids brought me back to the world. I have moderate to severe hearing loss and was missing out on so much. Hearing aids are expensive, not covered by Medicare. But, you are worth it. See about it sometime. I thought you were home, but it is probably less stressful for rehab being there at the facility. Do good work.
Glad you got to post this, but I must question the devotion of Justin for bringing you that combination or food. #wink
he understands me, ac
Hope you're home before you know it and continue to improve each day. Thinking of you.
Sam
Justin needs to bring you a mobile hot spot in addition to the dark chocolate.
Hi Vicki-Thinking of you and hoping that being in a rehab facility, while not your idea of a therapeutic vacation, is the best place for you to concentrate on getting better. Very much appreciate that you are still blogging as your beautiful pictures and dead-on comments (political and otherwise)are a touchstone for me. Today we're hunkering down here at the coast and I have loads of hand needlework to occupy me but the mind races on...get well soon.
Oh Vicki. I hope you heal quickly so you can go home. So glad to hear from you! Only way from here is feeling great and going home. Thinking of you daily my friend and sending good thoughts. xx
Hey, Vicki,
Sorry to hear you're stuck in such circumstances. Sounds like typing with two hands denotes some progress; I hope so. I feel particularly good about the Sushi and Dark Chocolate deliver, he's a star. But I'm not sure where the olives fit it.
A chatty roommate, however pleasant, sounds like adding aggravation to injury. I hope your strategies allow for some rest and quiet contemplation.
I hope some stories rise up in your imagination and take you interesting place while you recuperate.
All the best,
Chance
I'm sorry about the chatty roommate - in my version of Dante's Inferno there would be a circle that consisted of people who all needed to talk to me. All the time.
I suspect you are longing to be home, where you can be comfortable and quiet and where you have all your things, but the danger is that you will try to do too much too soon. Very frustrating, I can imagine, not to be there.
Thank you, Vicki, for this update. A chatty roommate would certainly not help me recover. Pleading hearing difficulties seems a wise strategy. As others have commented, perhaps this situation will provide fodder for some fictional plot lines and character studies.
Hoping you will have access to the upcoming debate. xo
Well, everyone is rooting for you, and me too! Ugh on the current situation. Grumpy is so appropriate! If you were Miss Congeniality I'd be seriously worried. Do what you can. Ignore the rest.
Perhaps someone could bring you some headphones? Then you could pretend to be listening to get some peace and quiet.? Keep resting.
Sweet justice is to get you better and out of there. I hope improvements are rapid. Take care.
Heal quickly so you can escape to your home and some peace and quiet. A chatty roommate would drive me up the wall, too!
As they say down in Jamaica, dont worry be happy. Wishing you well soon and out taking pictures of your wonderful farm.
