Second Childhood?

I recently turned 73 and one of the items on my wish list was a coloring book and gel pens. Adult Coloring Book sounds like porn but really it's not -- just a collection of fiendish mandalas and paisleys and other Indian inspired patterns.

It's an amazingly soothing and meditative activity. Once you decide what color to use, your mind wanders while you try to stay within the lines. It could be addictive . . .

Various museums have coloring pages taken from items in their collections available to download. The Smithsonian is a starting place HERE and a Google search for museum coloring pages will turn up more.

A pleasant way to relive a bit of childhood!

I used to color and paint quite often, but it's been a long time. Adult coloring books have been getting a lot of press recently and I know several people that are enjoying them.

Yes I agree, it's a lovely pass time. Some of them can be really fiendish! I got two for Christmas from my boys. One is 'cats' and the other is 'Enchanted Forest'. Both have some delightful pictures in to test one's ingenuity!
I use coloured crayons at the moment but the introduction of some gel would add to the artwork.
Show us some more of your works when you're ready?
Happy Birthday Vicki.

Sue does a fair bit of colouring, often when she's listening to an audio book.

Indoor pastimes do pull at us in the last of winter days. Lovely meditation to make mandalas with bright colors. And gel pens are so wonderful, aren't they?

We heard that coloring was a good task for people with brain issues, so my daughter gave some coloring books to my husband for Christmas. He has not started them because I have to help him and have been too busy lately. He has coloring pencils and I’ll look at what you call “gel” as I don’t know what they are. One of the coloring books is on transparent paper, so when finished you can place it on a window and it will look like stain glass windows. They have a large selection of these on Dover and often place them on sale. Yours looks very pretty and I like you choice of colors.

Years ago when I was an art teacher I would keep spare copies of things like these for kids to work on while they waited for a new assignment. They are a lot of fun and there are so many choices of kinds now.

My daughter got on the adult coloring bandwagon before it became so popular. She finds it quite soothing and relaxing. Her favorite now is a geometric one with Escher images. Quite challenging.

What a fun way to pass time. But I never could stay in the lines.

I was given a book. It's fun to try though I am not very neat at it!
