In the wee hours (that's the hard part) before dawn is the best time to spot them.
The Perseids are one of the biggest meteor showers of the year -- 50-60 per hour --and the prime days for viewing are August 11,12, and 13, with the 13th predicted to be the best.
If you have clear skies, a view of the northeast, and not too much light interference, you're set for a heavenly treat.
The EarthSky Website HERE (from which these images came) has the complete story. . .

I need to remember to look!
We were at the beach one year during the Perseids. What a sight. We have an observatory in our county and every year I tell myself I need to drive up there to watch. And every year I fail to do so.
Hmmm, wondering if I coulld manage to get up early enough to see this show.
Raining here since last night, so perhaps Wednesday morning might be clear enough for a view....
Thanks Vicki for the alert. xo
So it's for tomorrow...
whan I was growing up it was a sign of great nights spent outside with the extended family, we were usually at my grandparents' home in the south-west of France where the sky was pretty clear at the time at night.
Would love to see them. Fog is a constant problem being so close to the coast. But I will hope for a clear sky.
