Demystifying the very catnip they have been dreaming about for so long...

Brian -- some cats are immune to the lure of 'nip -- seems to be a genetic thing. Our previous cats, Eddie and Miss Susie Hutchins, ignored it totally.

Lovely stoner cats. One of mine eats nip, the other rolls in it, then scatters the results in a little cloud behind her till she gets to the bed, thus I get to sleep under it too!

Blissful cats. It is interesting how different cats react. Our big Himalayan cat loved one particular patch of Nepeta (catmint) and kept it chomped right down to the ground. She sat there day after day in a kind of stoned haze waiting for signs of new growth.

LOL Fabulous…and I loved the ending "don't judge!" :-) Back in Maine when we were up to ten cats, we used to regularly have what we called a "hopped up on catnip party" for the kits…we would confine the dogs elsewhere, and I would dump a basketful of cat toys that had been buried in catnip for a while onto the floor in the living room. We would laugh for hours over their antics and how differently they all reacted. Thanks for sharing your kitteh nip experience and prompting my memory!

Vicki, your kitties do seem to be having a lovely time on the table top. May I ask if these kitties have been outdoors yet, venturing out to the source of the catnip?

Perhaps they are still too young for that adventure.

So far, Frances, the kittehs seem happy indoors. And with the damage they would do to birds and chipmunks, not to mention the various Things that might get a cat out there, I'm not putting them out till it seems they're unhappy in.

So cute!

Vicki, kitteh preservation transcends any other possibility of the great outdoors.

Please do convey to your duo that they've almost convinced me that puppies might not be the choice.

Almost. xo

Jim -- I wish I'd thought of 'Scotch and Soda' when I was making the captions! good one!

Great story, Carol!

Frances -- dogs are my first choice for companionship -- but I love having cats around to watch.
