Yep, the French Broad River -- from the Barnard Brdge -- looking downstream toward Hot Springs. Lots of campers out for an adventure.

oh i went on a white water adventure once that was a week long....so fun!!!! would love to be on the river today

Oh that does look fun. Related to rivers, there is a Mills river that I believe empties into the French Broad river. Enka NC had a rayon plant that emptied its affluent into a stream that emptied into the Mills river. It was said that it you had a case of athletes foot just go dangle them in the river for a while and by crackies no more athletes foot.

There was a distinct sulfur smell around Enka. Enka folks said it was the smoke from the paper plant in Canton NC mixing with the smoke from the Enka plant that caused the smell.

That's all the local flavor I have for today. At any rate the memories are over 6o years old. Still longing to see Upper Sandy Bottoms afore I die
