Another Way of Seeing . . .

I don't know why I'm so attracted to this treatment of photos -- a combination of HDR and Cross Processing in Picasa.  It's partly because photos done this way remind me of Japanese woodcuts . . .

And partly because this application makes me see things in the photos that I'd overlooked before.

What I really would like is an application for people that would help me to see others as they see themselves, to see the world through their eyes and understand their mindsets . . .

Of course I'm talking about the political Right -- I know that I'm probably as set in my Left Wing, Tree Hugging, Bleeding Heart Liberal beliefs as they are in their opposing views.  But if I could somehow see the world through their eyes . . . if I could understand why they think Dick Cheney (who was part of the deception that got us into Iraq in the first place) is worth listening to today . . .

I don't know -- perhaps it would make my brain explode . . .

i like this effect...it brings out the detail and textures of the subjects...

Very delicate photo editing...thanks. I kind of get turned off with all the bells and whistles that photoshopping does...please let me look at the subject, not a border! I've also been trying to look through other's eyes, in helping a friend find someone to "date" through on-line services. Very frustrating.

For me Chaplaincy has helped me see more clear another person. But first, I've had to lay aside my personal beliefs. Else, my own personal judgments come in with me and not much is accomplished. It is sad and perplexing what is going on in the world today. But, like the photo, do we really see all the 'veins' in the problem? Probably not. Perhaps that is what continues to perplex and frustrate us.

I also love HDR (high dynamic range) photography. Most of my landscapes use it.

Great analogy of HDR and opposing views in some ways. HDR opens up the details in the deep shadows and brings back the details in the blown out over exposed areas of the photos.

I have friends that need my mind to take mental pictures in HDR so I can understand better. See their dark shadows and blown out highlights.

I enjoy your photos when you "treat" them in Picasa. Lovely!

As for making your head explode, you might find interesting the audio I recently listened to: http://www.onbeing.org/program/jonathan-haidt-the-psychology-behind-morality/6341

Haidt speaks of liberal and conservative in a way I hadn't really considered -- cool stuff. :-)
