Pleasures and Treasures

A perfect day -- sunny, clear, and cool. The white irises are illuminated and even the trees sparkle in the sun.
On the edge of the woods, a native flame azalea reaches for the light.

A glistening galaxy of dandelion seed trembles just before going nova.

And in the box beds I was weeding, I met a tiny toad.

How tiny? This tiny.
The size of a large netsuke.

He looks so wise for one so small.

This shitake, on the other hand, was HUGE -- larger than my open hand.

Pleasures and treasures of a perfect day.

It looks a perfect day - after all the fun and fuss of yesterday's wedding, I am ready for some peace in nature.

Love those toads, Vicki. What handsome little creatures. We used have one that lived under an old flagstone, outside our back door, when we lived in Cornwall.

Lovely post, Vicki! I looked at your netsuke post, too and found it rather fascinating...I'd not heard of these little carvings before or their purpose. How charming! The little toad is not short on warts ;) Beautiful, beautiful pictures of your glorious garden. You really live in a magical place :)

Amazing similarity in the photos I took yesterday here! It was a lovely day, a little too much wind, but otherwise sunny and sublime!

Thanks for your beautiful photos!

Cute todie. I always enjoy the photos you take each season looking (I assume from your porch) between the trees and into the valley. I can imagine standing there with a cup of hot coffee!

Love your little toad. He is so cute. My father in law used to have one in his garden that lived under a drain cover. Every time I went there, I lifted the drain cover to say 'hello' to him.
Can't get enough of Spring and Spring flowers, can you!

Congrats on the Poet of the Day Award. Love the pictures. We found 2 tree frogs sitting on the rim of the pick up truck the other day. They survived the ride to the dump at 50 miles an hour too!

Didn't your mother tell you about the warts? Oh, well. Too late now. Glad you're out enjoying our glorious weather.

Beautiful photos. Although things are only just starting to green here, there are little frogs about the size of your little friend everywhere. I take it as a good omen!

Really wonderful photos Vicki. I love the little toad; they are such awesome little critters. I'm worse than a kid, I love to hold them when I find one.
