A Day Outside

A day like yesterday -- bright and clear with temperatures in the seventies -- made hoeing in the garden a pleasure. Maggie waited patiently.

And then she suggested a walk in the woods.

You come too.

Oh Vicki! You make me so homesick for the mountains and I've never even lived there, just visited! We hike while we are there and search for wildflowers on our hikes. My father (aka The Count), along with my son, keep track of how many different flowers we see. Our best was 60.

Vicki.......the wildflowers are just beautiful! I plan on working in the yard today, we are supposed to have sun and 88 degrees!

Oh, Vicki. What a lovely walk - thank you. I just love your place. I keep telling everyone that you have a little slice of heaven.

Do you think it really might finally be spring in these mountains?? Laws, I hope.

The daylilies I ordered from Molly arrived yesterday, and hopefully we'll get those planted tomorrow.

AND the copy of COMMUNITY QUILTS I ordered, arrived today and it is simply beautiful. I intend to sit down with it this evening, with a nice cup of fresh pressed coffee (with whipped cream on top) and enjoying each story and each gorgeous quilt picture. This is a treasure!

Vicki - Thanks for taking us along on your walk - perhaps sometime you can walk to the top of your property that borders Chuck's and take a picture from up there - that truly is heaven!

Loved your walk in the woods Vicki. Especially liked the windflower. Isn't that gorgeous. You are so very lucky to live in such a beautiful place.
Blessings, Star

Karen -- 60! I'm impressed!

Carol -- I worked in the yard today too -- pruning a quince that was blocking my view from the kitchen window. And now I ache all over -- a good kind of tired.

Kaye -- Molly and her husband have some incredible daylilies -- I envy you yours! Hope you enjoy the quilt book!

Liz -- I'm working up to climbing to the ridge -- I have to get past this bronchitis or whatever it is that followed my cold and has left me short of breath.

Star -- I am thankful every day of my life to be living here. I may occasionally yearn after other places but I know that this is where I'm meant to be. As Eleanor over at Thatchwick Cottage has on her header - "My lines are fallen in pleasant places."

Okay, let me get that quote right:

"The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage." Psalm 16:6

My gosh, those black tulips are gorgeous! And the Bleeding Heart, the Windflowers and the yellow violet. Thanks, Vicki and Maggie, for taking me along with you on your walk!

I made this nice walk with you, and I enjoyed your way of telling stories !

Victoria -- the black tulips are a part of my 'creepy' garden, wherein I have a black pussy willow, purple asparagus, crocosmia 'Lucifer', spiderwort, arum dracunculus and other weirdly named or odd-looking plants.

Miss Yves -- welcome to the mountains of North Carolina! Thanks for walking with us!
