Remembering . . .

Yesterday was the memorial service for our friend Libby . . .

Many moving and beautiful words were said in tribute to this amazing woman who
touched so many lives . . .

It was one of those occasions when people who'd not seen each other for many years tried to figure out just who that white haired woman or elderly man was . .

Some of us have, like Libby and her husband, been here for forty years or more . . .

Long enough to see children grow up, move away, move back, marry, have children . . . long enough for a few of those children to have children . . .  at least one of us early back-to the-landers is a great grandmother . . .

It was a fine gathering of community --
and a fine tribute to a woman who did so much for and meant so much to the community.

It was, however,  a little unsettling to overhear someone saying to a friend,
"See you next time."

Yikes!

That's what I call a "Send not to know for whom the bell tolls . . ." kind of moment. . .

It's awful that so many gatherings are of the unpleasant variety... to bid someone goodbye.

Lovely flowers, Vicki. Guessing those photos aren't recent, since the weather has been a tad bit cold for the flowers... and grass... and trees... and humans.

I can't remember what movie it us from or who said it but the gist is they were in the age bracket where all conversations start with discussing who has passed away recently.

I just chalk it up to the method in which that person handles grief. Maybe a comment like that makes the pain a little less.

My sympathies. It's never easy. Gorgeous pictures, by the way.

Gathering to feel the warmth of Love and Friendship but most of all the Warmth of a close disappeared friend circulating through the group.

i am glad that it was a good get together...and a good send off...perhaps you can find another reason for everyone to get together for the next time...ha

Thanks for blossoms on a grey day. A good memorial service does serve the soul. We all hope that ours will be somewhat the same...and that we can somehow enjoy it from the other side of the veil. And I happen to believe that your friend probably got a kick out of hers.

What a nice send off for your friend.
We have loses here more often and it is a reminder that the winds of time whistle through our bones more easily now, but the sun is brighter and warmer also.

It's always sad to lose a good friend. Especially one so near our own age.

I am really sorry for your loss. Things happen like this and we feel so helpless as we are left behind. My neighbor buried her son a few days ago and she is still in shock.
