The sun has ranged to the southern end of its journey along our horizon... tomorrow it will rise just a little earlier and just a hair to the west . . . the beginning of a six month journey . . .
Summer solstice will find the sun rising just behind those trees on the left . . .
it's a long way to go...
So in this dark season we deck the house with lights and evergreens and red ....
a potent charm against the long nights and sometimes gloomy days..
And a little hard cider doesn't hurt . . .

I follow all of your posts and so enjoy your pictures. Here in Savannah we don't get "fall" until December and winter is about 12 days in Jan. In other words its nice to see how the other half lives and North Carolina has become my dream spot
(well except that I need temps back in the 70s by the end of Feb. I'm back in flip flops by then).

Happy winter solstice Vicki. I've just put up a post celebrating summer solstice and am very aware of the contrasts. Your light is so thin and wintery, but it has its own beauty and you know how to make your own good cheer.
