Faded Beauty

The very last of the lily stems given me a month ( a month!) ago . . .

This series was taken over the past three or four days . . .

She's beautiful, even in decline . . .

I think of the death of the swan in "Swan Lake". . .

Or an aged woman of whom they say - "You can tell she was a great beauty."

So graceful in decline . . .

 Her fragile petals drooping . . .

She grows transparent,  a ghost of what she was.

What a beautiful sequence. Elegant in decline, indeed.

I thought of you at once, Ms. A.

That's a lovely series! I cannot be around lilies due to allergies, but they are beautiful. I did watch my amaryllis die though, as long as I could stand it. It's such a good lesson in beauty changing

Exquisite ... may we all be so graceful as we age.

Growing old gracefully. I hope the heady scent lasted a month too.

Beautiful every step of the way.

I like the aging woman analogy. Like so many, she was a beauty.

This is a metaphor for my beautiful sister who dropped her last petal last December.
Lovely photographic essay.
