There and Back Again

The little branch (stream) behind the old cabin is a torrent....

The barnyard is a gaum (big mess).

And I'm heading out -- solo, so I can stop and take pictures whenever . . .

All the branches are roaring ...

In the misty woods, pale beech leaves still hang on...

Twiggy calligraphy -- and a squirrel nest like a blot. . .

On Lower Brush Creek

Wet weather waterfalls

Unsurprisingly, the river is up

Some roads are challenging . . .

 Good weather for geese . . .

Our own Wool Branch puts on a show. . .

All the rain is great for making the waterfall flow, but sure makes a mess out of other things.

Be careful out there!

PS: I see a little red square between the photos. I think a photo might be missing.

Great photographs - very atmospheric. Oh and how I love the phrase - "twiggy calligraphy". Keep dry my friend.

Once outside everything looks so messy but messy things are reality and beauty.

It must feel so good to be able to be out and about on your own! We've got ice coating all our trees today - pretty but treacherous!

And you've got Russian spam! Wonder if it tastes like American spam? ;-)

Great shots, and of course I appreciate how you were bundled and booted up to deal with the muck. Learned a new word...gaum. Definitely! I drove down to Asheville in it last night, and back. I feel for folks commuting. Get out the oars.

What a show it is! Great photos. Now, will you please send some of that wetness my way? The drought continues here in Missouri.

Among your best pictures ever. I love winter trees in the mist.

Fabulous photos! My favorite is the next to the last one ... I've saved a copy for a future meditative writing portal. :-) Thanks!

French Broad East Fork is out of its banks in a few places here. And our little crick is also a torrent. It's kinda fun.

Hmmm you have got a lot of water there Vicki. Good job you're high up. The countryside is always pretty no matter what time of the year it is.
Here we have lots of snow and minus temperatures this week.

I had to come over Black Mountain last night. The fog was terrible on top of the rain. I was so happy to cross Walnut Mountain and get home. We had to go back to the VA today and it was exciting to see how Laurel Creek was rolling like the Colorado River. Now brace for the snow.

Love the photos, Vicki! It's been horribly cold here, but if you add up the amount of rain and snow we've gotten it doesn't come to much.

It's great that you're out on your own! :)

Blessings,

Victoria

Vicki, it's grand to see that you and your camera have been out on tour!

Aren't squirrels' nests funny? They often seem to be located in very odd places.

Winter set in here in NYC today after a transitional overnight bit of snow, sleet and rain. No accumulation of snow, but plenty of damp and chill.

Hats and gloves are now required. xo
