Merry Christmas to All!

From Pogo -- a comic strip of my youth -- the swamp denizens' immortal rendition of "Deck the Halls". . . sublime silliness . . .

Deck us all with Boston Charlie
Walla walla, Wash and Kalamazoo
Nora's freezing on the trolley
Swaller dollar, cauliflower,
Allagaroo!

Don't we know archaic barrel?
Lullaby, Lilla Bay, Louisville Lou
Trolley Molly don't love Harold
Woola bulla, Pensacola, Hullabaloo!

And a Joyful Hullabaloo to all!

Dick Smyser, late editor of The Oak Ridger newspaper, reprinted Walt Kelly's nonsense carol every year. Thanks for picking up the tradition. Happy Christmas. Jim

May your Christmas be merry and bright!

Same weather around here, wet and foggy.

Loved the Pogo post...don't remember ever hearing it, since I haven't followed Pogo for ages. Partly sunny and cold over here in Black Mountain. Happy times for you all!

Always loved Pogo, esp. "We have met the enemy and he is us."
We had our own lyrics to "Deck the Halls.:
"Deck the halls with naked ladies,
'Tis the season to make babies."

Thanks Vicki for sharing this nonsense carol from Pogo.
It is especially touching to me at this time. My BIL, Stan, used to go around singing "Deck the halls with Boston Charlie" and we younger ones would get a hoot out of his crazy song not knowing he got it from a comic strip. He passed away in 1975, and his wife, my sister, died this month. Thanks for the memory.
