Closing Thoughts

Here at the end of the year, I'm happy to see a bit of sun . . .  and happier still to be walking, at least some of the time, without the cane.  I'm also chafing at the bit to get outside . . .

This period of invalidity has given me new and disturbing insights in what lies ahead . . . so many limitations.  In 2013, I'll turn 70 (if nothing don't happen) and while folks keep saying that 70 is the new 60, 50, 40,  and while I know it's just a number, the fact remains . . .

So I'll be making it my business to see and do and enjoy as much as I can . . . to work on what I hope will be my best book yet but to keep time for the other things that complete my life --  more time with friends and family, more photography, another garden. . .

As I pack away the Christmas decorations today, I'll be thinking ahead to blue skies and the coming year. May it be the best yet for all of us and for our beleaguered world.

I predict you'll make 70 look like a cakewalk.

What good recovery you seem to be making. As long as you stay alive to beauty (as your photos demonstrate so well) then ageing will not matter.

I like the 'best year yet' part ! Here's to 2013 - making that a lucky 13 for all.
Happy New Year to you Vicki - with a new knee - all best, Katy

Happy New Year! Will 2013 be the year of the second knee? Or do we prefer not to be thinking about that now?

That's the spirit! Although the road ahead is shorter than the road behind us, squeeze every bit of life out of what's left. Happy New Year. Jim

Jean -- we prefer not to be thinking about that just now but it could happen sometime after next Thanksgiving,

Vicki, contemplation can allow many good paths to appear before our inner and outer eyes.

I wish you a wonderful 2013, and looking forward to seeing what beauty you will be showing us, and what interesting ideas you will be tossing our way, too.

Vicki, I'm so glad (but not surprised) that you've done well with the hip replacement. You'll be running marathons next we know. I've been away from blogging lately, as you know, but maybe I'll aim for one post a week. So many mss. in boxes that I need to rummage through in the new year. Speaking of whicn, Happy New Year!

You're getting on really well with your recovery, just don't slip on any ice, yikes! Be careful.
Keep on the way you are doing and you'll soon be writing 'I'm turning 80 next year'.
Happy New Year

Great photos ... you're always coming up with unique images, Vicki.

May you experience heart-joy every moment!

BTW ... don't you think that second photo shows a cat lying on its back (head on the left side) ... ? If I tip my head upside down (maybe I should just copy the photo and then flip it ... would be less of a head-rush) it looks like a cat leaping!

Keep your eyes on the beauty and the joy - I know you do. A very Happy New Year to you and your family, Vicki - and thanks for the joy I have from your photos and writing. My daily trip to the country, and usually a chuckle too.

Hi Vicki, I had to read back quite a ways to find out why you are walking with a cane. Shame on me for staying away so long. Serves me right. It sounds like you are progressing good. If anyone us going to age in style and dignity, it is going to be you.

Here's to a new year devoid of tragedies.
