Christmas Elves at Work

Yesterday afternoon we strung popcorn and cranberries and then I retired for a little lie-down . . .

Which turned, of course, into a nap.

While I slept, the elves decorated the tree (which is no small task, what with draping the garland just so. . .)

Justin and Claui and Cory and Kasie have taken part in this ritual many times before and they knew exactly how things should go. Claui's mom Nancy came over to lend a hand and John took pictures, all while I snoozed.

Once the garland is properly draped, the red satin bows are added.

A multitude of ornaments, candy canes, and tin 'icicles' complete the look.

I managed to get up in time to add a few candy canes  . . . and then to enjoy Claui's delectable lasagne, John's bread hot from the oven with lots of fresh butter, courtesy Justin and Silverbell, and a zingy salad with arugula from their garden.

Sometimes, being an invalid isn't so bad -- especially with friends and family like this!

So beautiful...the tree...the elves...and you getting the rest you need to heal. Thanks for sharing as always. At my house ceilings will be finished today (I hope) and decorations will begin in earnest.

Friends and family are what it's all about. The rest is just noise.

The elves did a wonderful job. With all our doctor’s appointments (going to another one in one hour) and my painful knees, nothing has been done here. I think I’ll use your tree as a background on my computer - your tree is very pretty and festive.

Looks great now Vicki. Funny how these jobs get so much harder as we get older. Of course you have an excuse this year and deserve to rest. It must also be nice watching the work taking place. When I was young my mother had a plate with a verse on it. The verse said 'work fascinates me, I love to watch it.' A true comment!
With your very tall cathedral ceiling, you have room for a really tall tree and it looks wonderful.

What a fine tree that is, and a great band of helpers.

Truly wonderful how your family and friends know exactly what to do to fill your heart with Christmas cheer! And that John took pictures, that really tops it all :-)

Yay! Make the most of it. With loving folk like that around, you should just be lapping it up. I'm really glad they're looking after you.
