This was Saturday night and these are from my phone. Having difficulty with the card reader on my computer . . .
Words and pictures from the author of And the Crows Took Their Eyes as well as the Elizabeth Goodweather Appalachian Mysteries . . .

Looking East
The sun was a molten red when it rose a few minutes after 7 --alas, from my bedroom it was mostly obscured by trees. In the couple of minutes it took me to get to the front porch, clouds had swallowed it up.
I shall have to get up a bit earlier.

Glory in the Morning
I am so very fortunate to awake (with Jenny's help,) to this glorious view.
As I sit on the chest at the foot of the bed and put on my socks and shoes, I watch the early sun gilding the trees.
Those same trees are hiding the full sweep of the horizon, but somehow it only emphasizes the beauty of the far off mountains that are still visible.
As an old English major I'm tempted to see some sort of lesson here, to draw some sort of parallel . . .
But I'll save that for another day.

Keeping a Balance
What I really wanted to do first thing yesterday morning was to look at the internet and see if the Toddler-in-Chief had used the State of the Union to announce he was bombing Iran--a possibility John and I had discussed might be used as a distraction from those pesky Epstein files. But first I had to let Jenny out. And the sunrise was beautiful so I grabbed a few pictures. And then the cats had to be fed. Finally I checked breaking news on my phone and was happy to see that Iran was safe for the moment.

Looking East--around 6 AM and 7 PM
I'd hoped to catch the actual sunrise but the mist blocked everything within minutes of this shot.
And then, in the evening . . .

Inching Toward Spring
The rising sun is working its way from the far right of this photo to a bit beyond the left edge which will be the equinox. A ways to go but even slow progress out of winter is welcome.
