Dear Sirs

 Where even to begin? My concerns are legion.

  First of all, the SAVE act is not only unnecessary as the number of illegal voters is vanishingly low and the act would encumber many citizens, mostly women whose married names differ from their birth certificates. This act is yet another blatant attempt by this regime and your president to remove legitimate voters from the rolls.

Secondly, it is deplorable that this corrupt regime panders to big business and big oil by erasing environmental protections for endangered species.

Thirdly, the weaponization of the (so-called) Justice Department against journalists is the mark of a dictatorship. 

The ongoing abuses by ICE must be stopped and the murderers brought to trial.

The Epstein Files are still not released in un-redacted form.

The mind-boggling corruption and self-dealing of this administration are a stain on our country. 

The same administration that pardoned the violent rioters of January 6 has had people arrested for touching the Reflecting Pool. 

And the on-going destruction of the White House and the Mao-style banners in DC are a disgrace.

How blind/corrupt/self-interested must a Congressperson be to condone all these things?

And Another Thing or Two

 I had meant yesterday's post to be a shout-out to some folks who make me hopeful for the future of our nation, but started with Major Watson and then got sidetracked by the Declaration of Independence.

Dear Sirs

 Your president appears to have become bored with the war he started so now he's turning his attention to vanity projects. It wasn't enough that he destroyed part of the White House, shut down the Kennedy Center, and made the Reflecting Pool an ongoing joke--he has to turn his attention to a public golf course, an ill-conceived statuary garden, and now he wants 47 trees planted in honor of his presidency.

The laughable "Great American State Fair" is a perfect symbol of his failed presidency--quickly erected structures covered with wrinkling vinyl and attendance numbers that he inflates automatically "45,000 happy attendees" when those of us with eyes can see fewer than 2,ooo bored patriots wandering aimlessly through the lackluster exhibits.

When will you admit that your president is failing, mentally and physically? The moral failings have been with him from the beginning.

Meanwhile, he squanders the taxpayers' money on his unneeded war and ridiculous vanity projects.  Meanwhile the problem of homeless Americans is growing. As is the problem of unaffordable groceries, healthcare, and housing.

People are arrested for touching the water of the Reflecting Pool while the rioters of January 6 walk free and the Epstein files still haven't been released in unredacted totality.

Kinda makes it hard to celebrate our nation's 250th.

Dear Sirs

                                                              

As your president continues to obsess over the disaster that was the Reflecting Pool, he has deployed the National Guard to protect it from the vandals that apparently exist only in his mind--anything to blame the botched and expensive job on someone other than himself. It's worth noting that he delayed for hours, refusing to call out the Guard during the January 6 riot that saw the Capitol itself damaged and defaced.

Meanwhile, he sabotages the diplomatic efforts to end the war he began and lowers the USA even more in the eyes of its one-time allies.

And STILL, the Epstein files are not released.

The damage this man and his enablers are inflicting on our country continues unabated. It is time for Congress to call him and them to account.

There will be a reckoning.

Bread and Circuses

That was how the Roman emperors kept the population happy--free bread and gladiatorial contests. It worked for a while.

And here we are, a couple of thousand years later and our Toddler-in-Chief is throwing himself a birthday party with lightly clothed sweaty men, fighting on the White House lawn.

Because nothing says real class like a cage match. 

An odd fact is that service members are invited to attend--as long as they meet certain physical standards--and pay for their own transportation.

The general public is pretty much excluded from the event--they can watch if they have a streaming service.

And there is no free bread.

So the iniquitous plan for the 1776 slush fund has been shelved, at least for the moment. That's good. But the Get Out of Jail Free card--added by Trump's "Justice" Department, mandating that the government be "FOREVER BARRED and PRECLUDED from prosecuting or pursuing" pending tax claims against the president, his family, or his businesses still stands.

How can this be justice?

Your president continues to milk his office for untold sums. Unlike recent presidents who have avoided trading stocks in companies whose bottom line they could influence, according to the Associate Press, during the first quarter of the year, Donald Trump ignored that precedent with more than 3,600 buy and sell orders, "many of them involving companies whose profits have been directly impacted by his decisions as head of the government."

Two more reasons this corrupt man should be removed from office.

While you're enjoying your Memorial Day weekend, give a thought to what you and your party will be remembered for: an unprovoked war on Iran, leading to soaring prices and shortages worldwide; a 1.7 billion dollars slush fund that could reward those who attacked the Capitol; garish unwanted and expensive additions to the Capitol; threats against Cuba and Greenland; and possibly the most egregious act of all--a Get Out Of Jail Free card for the president and his family in the form of immunity for tax crimes, past, present, and future.

This is your legacy. Are you proud of it?

 Payment for grifters, rioters, and anarchists? Your president, abetted by his puppet Justice Department is setting up a 1.8 billion dollar fund to pay his allies who feel they were unfairly targeted by the previous administration. This could include the misguided fools who attempted to overthrow the rule of law on January 6, 2021. That he has already pardoned them, including those who threatened members of Congress, attacked police, and chanted "Hang Mike Pence," is despicable enough but now, your president want to reward these criminals with taxpayer money.

We cannot afford this man. Between his ballroom, arch, statuary garden, ill-advised painting of the Reflecting Pool, and, oh, yes, his unadvised war on Iran, he is bleeding the country dry while lining his own pockets and those of his allies.

When will you wake from your slavish worship of this golden monster and think about your constituents? And about the country you claim to love?

Your president has demanded an "election integrity army" -- partisan forces deployed to polling places in every state. Armed? Masked? As brutal as ICE? Do you support this threat?

He has also threatened to "pack the court" and has attacked by name justices for following the law.

Do you support your president in these threats? 

And then there's that ballroom that he and his 'friends' were going to pay for. Now its cost has ballooned and may be passed on to the taxpayers.

I can assure you that most taxpayers want lower gas and grocery prices rather than a ballroom they will never be invited to. 

And if said ballroom is so important for security, why does the president expose himself to danger on a weekly basis at various golf courses?

I'm old enough to remember when the GOP had at least the appearance of integrity. Now it's little more than a den of grifters and yes-men--and yes-women too, alas.  

Dear Sirs

 You and your party are behaving like the over-indulgent parents of a spoiled toddler--parents that are afraid of said toddler and turn a blind eye to his terrible behavior and ongoing mental and physical breakdown. I'd like to call Family Protective Services on you.

But the toddler in question isn't playing with toy soldiers and plastic boats. He's gambling with lives and burning through our nation's store of weapons in his war of choice. Gas prices, food prices, everything is affected by the toddler's ego-driven war. 

And just as an out-of-control toddler might smear his feces on the walls and furniture of his house, your toddler is moving to desecrate our nation's capitol with his glitzy makeovers. And like a toddler with a magic marker, he's attempting to smear his name everywhere.

This is so far  from presidential behavior that I am amazed that the GOP, which controls both House and Senate, as well as the Supreme Court, has made no effort to rein in this demented toddler-in- chief.

I look forward to midterms and the coming of some grownups who aren't afraid to tell the toddler a resounding NO.

 I believe that the more we post these numbers  (8647)that mean to throw the Orange One out of office, the more ridiculous his lawsuit against Comey becomes. Will he sue everyone? DUMP TRUMP!

Of course the attempted attack on the various government officials should be condemned. We are already sliding into third world status, but we should certainly not condone violence as a means to a political end.

Of course people feared for their lives--just as school children in the many school shootings have. Hearts pounded as they hid under the tables--no one should have to endure such fear. And yet our schoolchildren and their teachers are never free from the threat of another school shooting. Practice barring the door and hiding in a closet--if there is a closet.

POTUS argues that this incident proves he needs a bunker disguised as a gilded ballroom. I argue that until school children have the same level of protection, he should make do with his Secret Service.

Or, and here's a thought, perhaps we could have some serious gun control nationwide.

Like a civilized first world country.

Dear Sirs,

 The inhumane conditions in the privately run concentration camps that house the victims of ICE are a disgrace to our country. The mere fact that the USA has concentration camps is a disgrace.

I beg you to visit the camps, to see for yourself, and to act to change this deplorable situation.

And I fervently wish that you would not continue to ignore the deteriorating faculties of POTUS. He is a loose cannon on the ship of state, causing irreparable damage to our democracy and to our reputation in the civilized world.

What good news! The autocratic Orban and his "illiberal democracy" have been handed a huge defeat. Unlike Someone, Orban has accepted defeat and conceded. 

Orban had pledged fealty to Putin, and our own president, who is securely in Putin's pocket, endorsed Orban and sent the despicable JD Vance to Hungary to promise financial support from the USA. (This, when we supposedly can't afford health care and the forestry service, and, really, anything that makes life better for us non-plutocrats.)

I have to admit that along with being happy for this defeat for a far-right government, I take pleasure in seeing Vance coming back with this defeat added to his failure to negotiate  a treaty with Iran. Couldn't happen to a more deserving sycophant.

I'd like to believe that this is a tidal shift that will propel a Blue wave at the midterms.

Fingers crossed.

 

Ceasefire or No, DJT Needs to Go!

 After spending a beautiful spring day worrying about Dear Leader doing something really awful that would brand our country forever as a rogue nation, I was relieved by the announcement of a two week ceasefire.

I'd hoped the orange idiot would find a face-saving way to back out of destroying a whole civilization in order to save it from its repressive leaders. And he has--but only for two weeks.

There seems to be building sentiment in favor of impeachment. I can only hope . . . and keep badgering my senators and representative to invoke the 25th. If ever anyone was manifestly unfit to be POTUS, it's the corrupt egomaniac currently infesting the Oval Office.

It's a hard reign (sic) gonna fall . . .and I'm not talking about Iran.

 WAKE UP! Our country is well on its way to becoming a pariah nation. The madman in the Oval Office must be removed before he commits even more war crimes to divert attention from his on-going corruption and the Epstein files.

So, according to your president, our federal government is in the business of war ( a war of his choosing,) not day care, healthcare, or any of the various things that would make things better for the ordinary (i.e. non-billionaire) American. Yet somehow he manages still to spend lavishly in an attempt to remake DC in the image of his (failed) gilded casinos.

And the rich get richer while untold numbers of immigrant workers who made our economy run (while paying taxes) languish in shameful conditions in for-profit concentration camps. And the stock market yo-yos up and down while the president's friends pay for insider information and his family grows ever wealthier, profiting from his war.

I have little hope that you will act to impeach and convict this blatantly corrupt and destructive man, so deep in delusion and/or collusion is the GOP. But I look forward to seeing you reap your just rewards for the part you have played as enablers of the worst president in our nation's history. 

This is what I sent to Chuck Edwards and Ted Budd. I omitted the last paragraph when I sent it to Thom Tillis, who, since deciding not to seek reelection, has discovered what's left of his balls.

 

Dear Sirs

 The corruption of your president and his administration is unbounded. He has started a war, partly to deflect attention from the Epstein Files (we haven't forgotten,) partly to please his buddy Netanyahu, and now it becomes apparent that he or his family and cronies will be benefiting from advance knowledge of the swings in the stock market and oil futures due to his on-again off-again threats to Iran's infrastructure (threats which if carried out would be yet another war crime by this rogue administration.) Can you say insider trading? Rigging the stock market? 

He has also blocked efforts to fund TSA without funding ICE. He wants to end mail-in votes--while availing himself of them. And his son-in-law is openly pushing to rebuild Gaza in the gilded Trumpian image as beachfront property.

Gas prices have risen, as will those of all consumer goods.  And his ties to Big Oil that lead him to reject greener forms of energy will only exacerbate the rising pollution and temperatures.

When will enough be enough?

When will this blight on the once-respected office of POTUS be removed? 

Are we great yet? So much winning . . .

When your president and his head of the FCC threaten journalists who dare to report facts about his ill-considered war on Iran, rather than the inflated and often bogus claims of the administration, they are ignoring the First Amendment.

Freedom of the press is essential to a democracy. Your president is moving toward state control of the media, reducing it to a propaganda outlet for the regime--not unlike all other totalitarian governments.

I call on you to oppose this unconstitutional power grab and stand up for freedom of the press. Do your job and rein in this madman before he destroys our country.

It is time and past time to impeach the incompetent madman who has dragged our country into a costly war of his own provocation, killing soldiers and little girls, sending prices rising and further lowering worldwide trust in and respect for the USA.

His money-mad corruption and self- aggrandizement have befouled the once respected office of the president. His choice of Cabinet and other officials based on loyalty rather than qualifications has weakened our government. His willful ignorance endangers us all. And his constant, costly golf trips as Americans die in his war are a slap in the face of true patriots.

History will remember those who put country above party--and those who didn't.
