Around 5:30 yesterday evening, our phones buzzed with a tornado warning--go to your basement or an interior room. Scary stuff, but John was watching on the radar and then from our front porch and it was pretty sure the storm wasn't heading our way.
We kept a wary eye on the clouds and lightning to the north of us as they moved our way. We got several spells of rain and the power was out for about an hour but, (and I'm writing this at 8:45) so far, so good.

Not "an event" to experiement with...
We had more than an inch of rain in 20 minutes, but the sky didn't even darken and there was no wind. DC and Bethesda had trees down and power outages, while we had only rain and nearby areas like Vienna and Alexandria got nothing. Very strange storm.
We had a warning or watch not long ago, but it covered a pretty big area, so we weren't too worried although we investigated somewhat, checking radar etc.
I still get Buncombe County weather alerts(not the highest priority to change on the phone) and they sent out warning as well. Friends say nothing happened except Asheville was without power a while…so that’s a relief, after they had sat in bathtubs for an hour! So glad no damage or twisters where you w ere.
Yikes. At least I don't have that to worry about here. Good that you get a view of the weather from your home and can monitor things.
