High Water

So. It appears I can post a few photos as long as they haven't been tweaked in any way (cropped, auto contrast, etc.)  I'm trying to get an answer from our server (Mountain Area Information Network, are you listening?) as to what's going on...

Meanwhile, as of Friday afternoon, the rain has stopped and there's a touch of blue sky.  I ventured out to the grocery and saw lots of evidence of flooding over the past few days. The picture below shows where both sides of this field of tobacco were underwater.

At the recycling center, I saw some old friends with their grandbaby.

"We're out for an adventure," said Jane. "We're going to see the sinkhole that opened up in the funeral home parking lot and then we're going to the grocery store."

I love country living.

HOLY COW, that's quite a sink hole!!!

I can't imagine not re-sizing my photos before I post them. I'll be curious to see what your server says about your photo posting issues.

Steer clear of those sink holes, Vicki!

That sinkhole is frighteningly huge and deep!

Can't understand what is going on with Blogger. Lately there have been various changes this side of the Pond. I have that sinking feeling they want to assert more control over how we post.

Good thing that parking lot was empty when the sink hole decided to, hmmm, sink, be born, emerge, come into being. Or was it always there and just had a shell of earth over it. Karst topography plus lots of rain makes for interesting events. Looks like they could have a bottomless pit, an easy entrance to the underworld. Fitting, somehow, for a funeral home.

We have flooding on this side of the mountain, but nothing like you have over there. The sink hole is unbelievable and from what I've heard keeps growing. Stay safe and dry.

Actually, I found out that the sink hole is in the parking lot of the Blue Flame Grill -- which is next to the funeral home. Either way, it's impressive.

And I find that I CAN post tweaked photos -- it just takes an agonizingly long time --as in time to go do the dishes and start the laundry while things are uploading.

Tomorrow I'll have those pictures that didn't post a few days ago and Monday I'm writing a letter to explain to the National Rifle Association why I won't be joining...

In years to come, these stories of "when the weather changed" might be something to impress the youngsters.
I think this is our new weather, folks.

It hasn't quite finished raining here in the Bluegrass. Beyond the flooding, the number of trees and big tree branches that have fallen with the sodden weight is unsettling. I refuse to think about sinkholes, sort of.

I haven't had a problem with 'edited' photos on my blogspot blog, so maybe it is your server.

Still, your photos are gorgeous!

Hells bells! that's a huge sink hole. Were there any bones appearing?

I think I like the chair holding the orange safety net more than the sink hole...nice one, Vicki.
