Ending the Weekend with a Bang

It was a great weekend in Rugby. But on my way home, I was severely sideswiped and, according to Jordan the wrecker guy, my little car is totaled.  Well, at least I don't have to worry about that leaky tire any more...

I had a small bump on my head and nothing else -- lots of nice folks stopped and offered assistance till the law got there. The guy who hit me apologized. And after a very long wait on the side of I-40 with huge trucks roaring by and making my poor wrecked car sway, the wrecker came to take my car to the wrecker place and me to a motel in Newport, TN.

I'm writing this Sunday night -- John will pick me up in the morning and life will go on.

And tomorrow I'll post more pictures from the weekend. Right now I'm going to bed, happy not to have been totaled along with the car.

That's terrible! So glad you weren't badly hurt, but sorry about the car. I had a small car (Scion Xa) for six years, but went up to a Mazda CX7 suv. A bit bigger, a bit safer, and just as efficient as the smaller car. Maybe you should get a bigger car?? Honda CRV is a very good vehicle.... Stay safe!!

So glad you are OK. Poor car, but of course they can be replaced. Hope you are able to rest a bit tonight (Sunday) and that you aren't too terribly sore in the morning.

Thanks, all. As of this morning I am a bit stiff and sore -- but that's kinda normal for me anyway.

Oh my goodness, what a frightening encounter! Was the guy who hit you the one with the humongous truck?

I am so glad "only" the car suffered serious damage.
Big hug,
Merisi

what a shock to be scrolling through FB and seeing that wrecked hulk! Whew, a close call. Along with the rest of the crew I'm happy that you're okay. It will be interesting to see what kind of a car you will get. Chuck and I are now just have an old Subaru (1996)Outback. Then we rent a car for a long trip. I love not having a car payment, and can't afford a really ecologically-good one any way.

Oh my, what a shock you have gone through...I'm grateful you weren't hurt any worse. Such a mess your dear little car turned into...I hope your next one does protect and serve well. The dragons are still out there!

Jeepers Vicki! That was surely a change from Silent Sunday.

Do allow yourself to be pampered now...even visit your doctor....

I guess it's encouraging that The Other Driver said he was sorry.

Oh, how frightening! I'm sure you are aching all over today but I'm glad you escaped serious injury. Could have been so much worse. Wonder if the other driver was texting or otherwise distracted when he sideswiped your car? I've seen dozens of cars drifting because the driver was eating, talking, texting, etc.

Very scary experience! Take some extra special TLC for yourself for a few days - things like that, even when you are okay, leave you more shaken up than you may realize. I am so very thankful that nothing worse than a bump on the head happened to you.

What an awful end to such a wonderful weekend! I'm so relieved you weren't seriously hurt, but I'm sorry your sweet little purple car didn't survive as well. Get home safely... Ellie

Thanks, folks! I'm safely home and feeling fine except for a very small headache. Will visit the doctor this afternoon as a precaution...

Amen! I'm glad you weren't totaled too. How very scary. You really took a hard hit, and hope everything checks out at the doctors.

Oh Vicki, that's awful! I'm so glad you're all right. You are all right, aren't you? Perhaps you should go to the doctor and get checked out. You must be in shock at the very least. Your poor car!!! Oh dear, oh dear, I'm so sorry to read this and after such a lovely weekend as well! Much love from your friend in England x

Just back from the doctor (and the grocery and the recycling center.) The doc said I seemed fine-- warned me of symptoms to watch for that would mean I should come back in. Ibuprophen should take care of things at this point. Again, thanks for the nagging and the concern!

Ooh, that's scary. Glad you were not badly hurt. Funnily enough, that nearly happened to me yesterday too. I had to slam on my brakes when a car roared out of a side street right in front of me. I then went on my way - but a second car roared out of the side street and drove straight into the side of the car behind me! If mine had been totalled then I'd be in a fix as the insurance for my old car would not buy a new one. Hope you're more fortunate.

So grateful that you're basically OK. Very scary. Hydroplaned once and hit a tree and phone pole. No injuries at all, but shook like a leaf when the folks whose yard the car ended up in came out to check and said they had seen it happen and knew there would be bodies. Hope your insurance adjuster is fast and efficient.

I feel much better after seeing the car, Vicki. At least the passenger compartment seemed to be intact. So sorry you had to end what had been up to that point a wonderful weekend. It was a very meaningful workshop and all are pumped to get writing. Loved the Rugby pictures. Jim

I wish I had been here in Cosby, you could have stayed with me instead of in a motel. We just got back Monday night from a 1500 mile journey, to Buffalo and back for a 90th birthday party. I must say, we saw no wrecks, but did see cars shooting by, weaving to get in front so they can go faster, even in the torrential rain around Pittsburg. I do hate the interstate. So glad you were not injured. Take it easy for a few days.

Vicki, what a relief that you aren't badly hurt. That could have been really awful.
I have had a couple of accidents in my life and I know you don't feel the pain until the next day when all it all hits you. Take care of yourself.

Vicki, I'm so glad you weren't hurt. I'm sorry your car was totaled, but it can be replaced...you can't!

So glad you are ok. Now your poor little car is another matter. It could have been so much worst!
