Miss Susie Hutchins - 2002-2012
Alas, our Miss Susie Hutchins is no more.
So soon after Eddie . . . leaving us catless.
We don't know the cause -- she didn't have the same symptoms as Eddie. But she seemed weak and staggery in the rear end. While we were calling the vet and fetching the carrier, she tore her way through a screen and disappeared.
John searched and searched to no avail. Four days later, we found her body, peacefully curled up under a bush.
Goodbye, Miss Susie Hutchins -- you were a very fine cat indeed.
At one stage in my life I might have asked "how can anyone get so emotional over something which is nothing more than a domestic pet?" And then we got Amy ...
Miss Susie was A Good Cat, right to the end. Animals are so wise. She knew, that's all . . . and went to where there was a good jumping off place. What a beautiful girl.
Dear Vicki, What a lovely little gal, and I'm sending my condolences also...thanks for sharing her pictures. Our animals are indeed part of our families, in different roles, but with their very own personalities. A beautiful life that has met its time.
I know this little lady will be missed. I've enjoyed her photos and adventures on your blog. So sorry for your loss Vicki. Our pets are very much a part of our families.
Oh no! I am so sorry. This makes me very sad. Oh dear, I am heartbroken over your loss of this beautiful animal. What a joy she has been to those of us you have shared her with. So sorry
Oh I'm so sorry Vicki. I know how it feels to lose a cat and a dog. You will miss her so much, but she had a very good life with you. Couldn't have been better could it? You can rest assured about that. Cats know when they are going to die and very often do what yours did. Here am I planning to take my cat back to England in a few weeks time.
Oh, no, poor Miss Susie. What a beautiful kitty she was. Looks like Miss Susie chose to face death on her own terms. Tears in my eyes as I think of my own three cats. I hope that in time some darling feline will be there to capture your heart and fill the gap.
She chose her own time, and her own place -- she spared you, and herself, the cycle of hope and despair and doomed hope again that would have followed had she not sought refuge in nature -- but oh, the heartbreak for those she left behind ...
So very sorry Vicki. Susie always seemed like such a lofty lady and I love her expressions that you captured in her pictures. It's awful that Eddie and Susie both left so soon and so close in time.
Thanks to all of you for the kind thoughts. Yes, she did it her way . . . as always. I hated having to tell you all almost as much as I hated that it happened.
I'm hoping to adopt a couple of kittens -- it's been a while since we've had the pleasure of watching kittens playing -- but it's going to have to wait till after my knee replacement surgery in November. I'm thinking January...
I'm so very sorry for your loss. (((BIGHUG))) I kind of like, though, that she was able to pass in her own way; it's nice that she could curl up under a bush and let go. My thoughts are with you during this time of transition.
Oh no, she had such personality. I'm so sorry. I'm sad now, so I can imagine how you must be feeling. It's funny how cats seem to know what's coming. Ours all went off alone in just that same way.
So sorry, Vicki. We do love our kitties so much. Even though we know they're just fur sacks with walnut-sized brains. My, but they're such good friends, aren't they?
So sorry to hear your news. We've enjoyed your stories and pictures of Miss Susie Hitchens and know you'll miss her. Did you ever share how she came by her name? Maybe I missed it.
Lynne in GA -- Miss Susie Hutchins was discovered in a ditch by a friend of mine whose maiden name was Susie Hutchins. Sue couln't keep her and called to ask if I wanted a kitten. Thus the name -- though we tended to call her Hutchins or Pooh most of the time...
Oh Vicki, I am so sorry about the loss of Miss Susie. I know how we felt when our Scrapper left us for 'Rainbow Bridge' after 18 years of curling his butterscotch softness onto our laps. I am sending loving vibes your way and hope that a feeling of peace will come over you on gently healing autumn zephyrs.
Our old and frail cat Viola disappeared several months ago, We're hoping that she died the way Miss Susie did. I still see her out of the corner of my eye, and even hear her meow every now and then. So sorry for your loss, Vicki. Autumn is a good time to go, though. Your friend, Deana the queena

I'm so sorry, Vicki. Somehow, they seem to know when the time is near. I'm glad y'all found her. Not knowing is so much harder to me.
She was beautiful, and I will miss seeing her on your blog. :(

There is never enough time. So sad to hear of Miss Susie's passing.
You will miss her, I know. They do that if they can, just go away and hide. And die. My sympathies.
Sorry for your loss.I know how it feels. They become a member of the family not just a pet.

I am imagining Miss Susie with large glossy black-and-white wings. So sorry for your loss.
