Last night at 9:30 I looked at the two dogs on the floor, curled like relaxed shrimp, and said to Husband, "Those dogs are the smartest beings in this house." "If that's true, we're in serious trouble," he said.
Sam, Willa sleeps hard because she runs around a lot. Ali Ali sleeps hard because he's worn out from playing with Willa. William sleeps hard because he's old. And Miss Susie Hutchins sleeps hard because she's a cat.
Dan, our other dog, is a Border Collie and, as such, is not very good at relaxing.
Haha...what wonderful shots, Vicki! Looking at them gives me a sudden urge to take a nap myself. I must say...this heat makes it very hard to stay motivated.

I'm the author of The Elizabeth Goodweather Appalachian Mysteries from Bantam Dell. The series includes SIGNS IN THE BLOOD (LA MONTAGNE DES SECRETS in France), ART'S BLOOD, (LE SECRET DES APPALACHES in France,) OLD WOUNDS,IN A DARK SEASON (Anthony Nominee, Best PBO), and UNDER THE SKIN. There's also THE DAY OF SMALL THINGS (a spinoff/standalone)chronicling the unexpected life story of Miss Birdie, one of Elizabeth's neighbors.
I came to this weird business late (my first novel was published in 2005) and am still trying to figure it out.
As my novels are set in a place much like my real life home, I thought I'd use this blog to share pictures of our farm and county. I've been blogging for over five years now, on an almost daily basis, and the topics have ranged from writing, chickens, food, books, quilts, flora and fauna of all sorts, to the occasional tiny rant. There's no plan, but there are lots of pictures.
There's more information about me and my books on my web site: http://vickilanemysteries.com/

Goodness, Vicki, they look comatose. Did you drug them, or just wear them out?
That's total relaxation!
Wish I could do that!
Those dogs know how to relax! :-)
Looks as if the Dog Days are two months early in your parts, just like here, in the 90° for days on end.
I think the pups are trying to tell us something, but goodness, we already know it. Over here I believe it's going to be a long, hot, dry summer. UGH!
Now I need a nap.
They look worn out. Did they have a long day in the yard gardening or chasing squirrels? Or are they just content after a big dinner.
Sam
Certainly looks like it!
oh i wish i could do that...smiles....they look comfortable...smiles.

No worries here!!! Have a grand day!!! Cathy
It's nice they all have their own pillows.
Aw, the puppies are so cute. If you feel warm anytime this week, think of me in Tampa. I'll be coming back to those blue mountains next week!
Not dog days yet. But it surely does feel like it around here. I'm with the dogs...just take it easy.
Every day is their dog day, it seems to me.

Vicki, I love taking naps whenever I can, because most days, I just cannot.
True luxury!
That's just too funny! I think this pack has relaxing down to an art!
