Yesterday was the first day I felt that the cold was finally almost over. I still didn't feel like doing much but I did putter about outside a bit. There were roses . . .
And two wasps (or waspers, in the local dialect) were building a nest
in a little china cup on my potting bench . . .
And there were more roses. . .
Miss Susie Hutchins, taking her ease . . .
The Gomer Waterer rhododendron is in bloom
behind the blue Lutyens bench. . .
The peonies are in bloom . . .
And more roses . . .

Good to hear that you've shaken off the cold, and that things are now more rosy!
Gorgeous, gorgeous roses! The wasps, not so much.
Glad you're feeling better.
Lovely!
I imagine the fragrance of the roses ...
( Thanks for your kind comment about my watercolor ).
Beautiful flowers and interesting wasps. Are you going to let them build their nest? It might be very interesting.
Have a great and sunny week, Vicki!
Beautiful every day's reality at your place!
i think susie has the right idea...smiles....although a seat on that bench might now be bad either...
Miss Suzie has the right idea! Stretch out and enjoy the beauty. Thankfully you photographic and share.
Looking at that first photograph you can see how the words "perfect" and "rose" fit together so well.
"Waspers"--haven't heard that in a long, long time. It made me remember my grandfather doing battle with the waspers and yeller jackets. He really hated them. Sometimes he would pour kerosene on the nest and set the nest afire after dark. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
That is a very strange place for waspers to build a nest!
Glad you are starting to feel better.
That beautiful pink peony is wonderful! And Miss Susie sure knows how to relax!
Glad you're feeling better, Vicki. Self-respecting colds should limit themselves to the winter months! The wasper shots are interesting. It appears that the nests are being built up, instead of the usual down. I've never seen that before. Jim
Just catching up - sorry to hear you had a cold. hope you're much better now. You did well to feel like clearing closets out amidst the sniffles.
Isn't that wasps' nest a lovely structure? Whether you like the beasts or not, it's some clever feat that they can make that. Enjoyed seeing your new baby (calf) too - all babies are pretty adorable aren't they?
To answer Wil, I'll probably leave them alone. Every summer wasps make similar little nests, smaller than my fist and hanging from the underside of the porch roof. The rarely bother us -- I have been stung when I inadvertently put a hand down on a wasp who was promenading along the railing. I'll enjoy watching these two.
Judy B -- we have used the kerosene/fire treatment on yellow jacket nests in the ground that are likely to get walked over. Those critters are really mean.
Your place is a bloomin' nature center -- barbara
Love the roses and the blue bench. The wasps- ahhh...not so much! :)
