And Then There Was Snow . . .

Mild weather and gorgeous sunrises. . .
Clouds rolling in . . .
The past few days have been a whirl of breaking out the blue and yellow to replace the red and green . . .
Now the house feels fresh and spare -- a good way to begin the new year . . .

And yesterday afternoon, the snow began . . .
The weatherman says it will be short lived . . . and that's okay with us.

I love the look of snow, but wouldn't want to have to get out and go somewhere in it. Stay warm!

... it hasn't made it to Greensboro yet! Kids would love a snowday Wednesday (1st day back to school). Your home does look fresh and clean and cozy!

I love how you live the rhythm of the year, inside and out! Did you order the snow from amazon? ;-)

You've captured some lovely sky shots here, Vicki.

The winds chills over here are quite something this morning, but only a dusting of snow.

We have the rains instead. I'm about to go out and check the river level.

I doubt that I can come up with marvellous photos like yours.

Happy New Year, Vicki!

It is cold. It is cold. It is cold!
Our high here will be 18.
What happened to that nice spate of global warming???

When it comes to snow, "short-lived" is music to my ears. If I was never cold again, it would be alright with me. I like my flip-flops in Dixie.

Have you ever noticed that the cozy and pretty Christmas decorations only look that way prior to Christmas? The day after, they suddenly look gaudy and junky. Mine came down on Christmas day. Of course, I don't "do" trees and garlands now. One tupperware container holds all of it.

Dear Vicki: I greatly admire people who have the aplumb and tenacity ok great kahunas to clear out the old and in with the new in a sort of plowright's Feng Shui! It does look so mind-refreshingly new Vicki...Good for you...!

Any significance to blue and yellow?

Our tradition is to take the tree down on New Year's Eve. We put it up about a week before Christmas, along with masses of greenery in the living room and, as Beau's Mom said, it does begin to feel cluttered -- not to mention hazardous with all that dry greenery.

The blue and yellow is as far as I can get from red and green. And it makes me think of starry nights -- of which we have many in January.

Beautiful photos, Vicki. Somehow, a light dusting of fresh snow seems appropriate at the beginning of a fresh new year. An all-around clean slate, sort of.

Glad you're feeling better! We didn't get much snow-but it was enough to close the schools-so we all got another day off : )

I packed the Christmas stuff away but I haven't gone for a complete colour change - nice idea though. I could just use a general tidy-up! Love these fabulous skies.

I need some kind of look to replace the rich, cozy colors and look of Christmas. Now that everything is put away, it just looks kind of bare.
