Have you ever noticed that the cozy and pretty Christmas decorations only look that way prior to Christmas? The day after, they suddenly look gaudy and junky. Mine came down on Christmas day. Of course, I don't "do" trees and garlands now. One tupperware container holds all of it.
Dear Vicki: I greatly admire people who have the aplumb and tenacity ok great kahunas to clear out the old and in with the new in a sort of plowright's Feng Shui! It does look so mind-refreshingly new Vicki...Good for you...!
Our tradition is to take the tree down on New Year's Eve. We put it up about a week before Christmas, along with masses of greenery in the living room and, as Beau's Mom said, it does begin to feel cluttered -- not to mention hazardous with all that dry greenery.
The blue and yellow is as far as I can get from red and green. And it makes me think of starry nights -- of which we have many in January.
Beautiful photos, Vicki. Somehow, a light dusting of fresh snow seems appropriate at the beginning of a fresh new year. An all-around clean slate, sort of.

I packed the Christmas stuff away but I haven't gone for a complete colour change - nice idea though. I could just use a general tidy-up! Love these fabulous skies.

we have a little here and there...we fled cleveland though yesterday morning to get home as they ended up with like 2 feet....
When it comes to snow, "short-lived" is music to my ears. If I was never cold again, it would be alright with me. I like my flip-flops in Dixie.

Glad you're feeling better! We didn't get much snow-but it was enough to close the schools-so we all got another day off : )

I need some kind of look to replace the rich, cozy colors and look of Christmas. Now that everything is put away, it just looks kind of bare.
