By the Rockets' Red Glare

At the Fourth of July celebration there were friends and food . . .

Of course there were fireworks . . .

And we all said "Ooooooooo' as they burst overhead, showering us with stars . . . .

But the very best gift from the sky was the inch of rain in our rain gauge that we found after the long ride home.

I'll post a web album tomorrow of our weekend doings, including a picture of raspberry-peach buckle that will make you drool. But now I have to go make potato salad.

Yay! an inch of rain is great news - we love to hear about rain in Madison County. Have you had any problems with your well? Our dowser says there is 12 gpm 285' down on Horse Knob - near our homesite - sounds too good to be true. Happy Holiday -Liz

What beautiful pictures of the fireworks Vicki ... it's hard to get them at 'just the right time', but you sure have mastered that.

We had a little rain overnight (barely measured in the gauge) and the clouds just opened a little bit ago giving us 1/4", and it looks like more might come???

I have a blackberry buckle in the oven now ... can hardly wait to try it later this evening.

Liz -- no well problems yet. Keeping our fingers crossed!
Pat -- it's that nifty camera! It has a special fireworks setting. And there were quite a few shots where I clicked too soon or too late.
And about that buckle -- I strongly suggest you have some while it's hot!

Thankfully we received a good bit of rain here in Mitchell County as well. A bit more this morning, too. Looks like there's a small chance of rain every day in the coming week...according to the forecast right now. Let's hope that holds true. Still need it.
