Autumn Equinox

 Balanced between summer and fall,

Between love and hate, hope and fear, truth and lies----

Teetering between yesterday and tomorrow,

Breathless, the world waits.

May all be well, may all be well,

May all be exceeding well.

Autumnal Equinox--A Fine Balance

 In this unbalanced time

It's good to see the sun rise

Due east as it should.

Halfway from summer,

Hanging in the year's balance,

Halfway to winter...

Turning to Autumn

Though yesterday felt not at all autumnal, I honored today's equinox by banishing the summer blue and white décor in favor of fall colors.

Away with the summer tchotchkes -- the shells and the blue and white porcelain! Bring out the gourds and skulls and fossils and pictures of winter squash.

Switch the paintings of white lilies for something more fall-like.

And enjoy the open windows and mild air while we may!

Shy Sunrise...with Crows

Hoping for a good sunrise to mark the equinox,

I stood in my nightgown, clicking away . . .

A heavy cloudbank was just over the mountains due east . . .

But I thought at least I could catch the sun when it rose over the clouds . . .

A beautiful fiery edging and some beams . . .

Alas, the clouds keep rising . . .

A crow appears . . .

And another . . .

And they dance in the light . . .
