Summer Solstice


 Marking the longest day, celebrants gather round the traditional solstice bonfire in hopes of foiling evil spirits and ensuring a good harvest.

So the celebrants hope to foil evil spirits, and ensure good harvests, and melt a few more dogs whioe they're about it, by lighting a bonfire in the middle of a heat wave? I am fascinated by these belief systems ... [tries to maintain a poker face as I remember yesterday's photo]
