Along with the JESUS IS LORD sign, there's a Trump/Pence sticker, an American flag/Madison Cawthorne sticker, a sticker for a local gun store, and a Semper Fi sticker--the Marine Corps motto.
(Semper Fi--always faithful. According to the Marine Corps website, it means "an eternal and collective commitment to the success of our battles, the progress of our Nation, and the steadfast loyalty to the fellow Marines we fight alongside. . . . it is a warriorhood that is lived.")
What I wonder is how this individual balances these loyalties to guns, hawkish and profoundly flawed politicians--even enablers of insurrectionists, and warriorhood with his devotion to the Lord who famously said: Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.
While I was wondering about this on the way home from the store, I passed a house down the branch that is sporting two new flags-American and Confederate, side by side.
I can't even . . .

Apparently there are successful lies...and liers. They've devised this patriotic mumbo jumbo line of bull. I can't see how anyone would be able to buy into it (including some of my relatives) with any intelligence. The thing that I think (and I may be wrong) gets them all "gung ho" is the drama. Just line up all their complaints like bottles on the wall, and shoot each one down in turn as the work of the other political party. I wonder what correct spelling of liers might be.
Unfathomable that they espouse all those beliefs which are so contradictory.
Liars, Barbara.
And Jesus wept.
So many contradictions - getting that way here too.
I think this display of religiosity, Trump and the flag on the car are crutches to justify a superiority over those hated “liberals.” You are right, that would not have been a teaching of Jesus.
This jingoistic attitude is the result of poor education, fear and extreme right-wing political indoctrination. I think that if America’s founding fathers were running for office now they wouldn’t be elected. They would be shocked and appalled - didn’t they decide not to include in the Constitution any reference to God, Jesus or the Bible? In addition when the Senate ratified the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797 didn’t it say “the Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion” ? But there is hope – I read on a Gallup poll that up to 1999 70% of Americans went to church and now it is down to 47% and with generation Z (born 1997-2012) it’s even lower, like 34%. So hope for the future - well maybe not so quickly for the South. Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee are the most religious states in the union but then Alabama is the worst state in education, Mississippi the worst state for health and in 2022 Tennessee has ranked as one of the worst states to live in. An open mind and kindness have been obliterated from the blood line of some of those people for a long time.
