Lasers on the Kitchen Floor

When my younger son was quite small -- thirty some years ago -- we had a prism hanging in the kitchen window that threw rainbows all about the room when the sun was right. Justin was, at the time, a big fan of STAR WARS and, in his mind, the lovely rainbows were lasers.  (Or wasers -- he had some difficulties with Ls at the time.)

"Wet wasers go!" he would command and I would set the prism in motion so that the colors would dance about the room.

Time passed, as it does, and the little boy learned to pronounce his Ls and grew up; the prism's nylon string broke; and the prism itself got misplaced.

But on a recent birthday, my husband surprised me with a new prism which we have restored to its rightful place.  And the lasers are spinning once more.

Prisms are fantastic. I have several hanging along my porch, and I enjoy watching their reflections dance around. A very thoughtful gift:)

Of all the miracles of science/life, I think rainbows as the way our light divides up is extremely nice.

Prisms are magical even if you know how they work. I can just imagine the kittens chasing the color on the floor.

For many years my parents gave me a prism for my birthday. My fascination with them dates back to the movie Polyanna. Surely I have one of every size and shape. Hanging in our kitchen windows, they have entertained our children, grandchildren, and pets alike. Everyone should have at least one prism throwing wazers!

Lovely! I have prisms all over the house, and my favorite rainbow surprise came when I rearranged the furniture and my glass photo frames threw color all over the living room as the sun set.
We Wasers Go is adorable, my daughter called them wainbows :)
