Where Does the Time Go?

Good grief!

November 9, 1963 -- it seems like forever ago . . . and it seems like no time at all.

But what an interesting time it's been -- from sharing a classroom through 7th, 8th, and 9th grades, to 'going steady' in 12th grade, to marrying three years later -- college, teaching, graduate school,  more teaching, building a little house on a lake in Florida, our first child,  and then the decision to buy a farm. . . . another child . . . and total immersion in the world of raising tobacco, milking cows, butchering pigs, making a garden . . .

We share so much history . . . can finish each other's sentences . . .
sometimes before they're barely begun.

A few days before our wedding,  we attended John's grandparents' 50th anniversary party -- at which his grandfather made a little speech beginning with "Being married to the same woman for fifty years shows a terrible lack of imagination..."

Thank you, John, for being equally unimaginative . . . for all the good times . . . for two fine sons . . .  for indulging me with multiple dogs and cats . . . and for not fussing when I squeeze the toothpaste tube in the middle.

We've made a very pleasant life . . .

Vicki, knowing that marriage is give and take, through thick and thin, agree or disagree, good and bad, I'd say the two of you have done very well! Congratulations, best wishes and many, many more years together!

Happy Anniversary you two. Time does fly when you're with the one you love. We can read each other's minds too and now that we're older, finishing sentences comes in quite handy :)

Have a great day and drink some champagne.

Congrats to you two. But I'm pretty sure those last 3 pics weren't of the lucky couple in the first one!

Lovely wedding photo and weren't you both fine looking. You have what many folks would love to have had as they walked through life. -- barbara

Vicki, a very Happy Anniversary to you and John. You all were definitely fortunate to meet each other at such young ages, and to have the good sense to agree to join up and see what the coming decades would allow you to experience together.

As an increasingly senior citizen, I am still hoping to discover the whereabouts of a Mr Right for me and him, or a Prince Charming who'd put up for my current self. Glad to report that I remain hopeful for such late life discoveries, even as I continue to learn life skills that allow me to live on my own.

Believe me Vicki, I do know what I have missed and am missing.

Happy anniversary to you & John! 50 years is quite a milestone! My hubby's parents celebrated 68 years together this year. She was 15 and he 19 when they married. They ran off to the next county and got married at the judges house!

Congratulations! When my husband Johny married, we said we looked forward to 50+ years together, even though we knew I'd be 95 and he'd be 107, LOL! Living with love is the only way to go, even if it takes a while to get there. May many more years be in your future together:)
